"Oh my gosh," said Jennifer Conley, Rashan's mother. "L.A. is absolutely beautiful."

Gary already made official visits to Mississippi, Auburn and Michigan, and he is contemplating a visit to either LSU, Alabama or Clemson. Ohio State is also trying to get involved with a Monday in-home visit.

"He could definitely go to USC," Conley said. "The visit was a game-changer."

"I learned that USC is a great school academically," Conley said. "They showed me their plan for success for Rashan, how they will implement his classes to his schedule, individualized tutoring. Most campuses that we have been to have the same thing, but I know Michigan and USC are two of the better academic colleges, where their degrees hold weight. "They encourage their football players to get internships. It's very comparable to what I felt at Michigan, but the weather was good."

Gary is going to be a force no doubt, but if he goes elsewhere our D Line is still going to be filthy next year. Clowny and Nmdieche (sp?) didn't lead either of their teams to a National Championship. If he goes to Ole Miss, USC or Auburn, he will do well but won't be in the hunt for a NC. I wouldn't have made this statement any other time in the last decade, but if he wants a National Championship shot, Michigan would be his best bet over the next 2-3 years out of those schools.

are foolish if you put that much stock in the OSU game this year. The team was physically and emotionally drained and was still figuring out how to play minus Glasgow and with a hobbled Smith. State beating OSU also took a lot of wind out of our sails. The first half was a good measure of where the teams stand, and they lose a ton. I will be frank. I am tired of Gary and his mom. I want to hear more about some back up targets. This guy is starting to be a prima and our class is stacked regardless.

Because he hasn't made the biggest decision of his young life within a timeline that satisfies you? All it takes is one asshole to make a fan base look bad, and right now that would be you. The kid has the right to go wherever he chooses, and it doesn't mean it's a character flaw. It's also safe to assume that anyone from the northeast coast is going to enjoy a trip to Southern California in the middle of January.

Not so fast there Ghostbuster! You're mixing up some valid points with some blatant misinformation -

NSD (Feb. 3 this year) is simply the first day a non-EE can send in a LOI - it's not a deadline.Gary or any other kid can take all 5 officials allowed and then as many unofficials as they can afford, and they still don't have to commit to any school. They usually all do, but that's their choice.

So if the anxiety the other poster is feeling about Gary's timeline causes him to make rash statements - like he's tired of him and his mother too - well..it's understandable. If you deal much with the youth of today you'd know helicopter parents have made it very difficult for them to handle delayed gratification or not get their way. Bear with him.

By the same token, Ms. Coney is seemingly more involved, and certainly makes more public statements, than we see with most recruits. So to the youth of today it feels like she's saying "you're definitely getting this Xbox - unless I decide to give it to your cousin instead. I'm going to go visit him and I'll let you know... No, you didn't do anything wrong sweetie, but the weather was certainly nice out there."

As for the misinformation - it does indicate some sort of character flaw when players we want choose to go somewhere else. Their motives are to be questioned, the tactics employed by the other schools scrutinized. Who wouldn't go to Michigan if offered the chance to play for our football team - under JIM HARBAUGH?!?!

Chris Clark? The Bosas? Certain players that go on TV and repeatedly say "I'm the #1 (fill in position here) in the country - stay tuned to see where I choose to play my football!"

Characters flawed in them all...

goblue25- You, my friend, are a jackass. You believe that YOU have something, at all, to do with Rashan Gary and you don't. Yes, we should look at backup targets. It looks like we are more into him than he is into us and that is fine. Your takes are terrible. Nobody cares. Just read and nod. No need to talk.

Taking a shot at a kid and his mother is bushleague and childish. However, Internet tough guys always make me laugh, so thanks for that. Take it easy Francis.

I do not believe his timeline has change from a NSD announcement, so why should we expect that he would have already announced for Michigan or any other team? He seems fairly grounded for a kid being recruited by the entire country.

How can you say that Michigan is a better landing spot in terms of competing for a national championship. Michigan hasn't won a big bowl game since VT, a B1G championship in I don't know how long, beat up by rivals, and hasn't won a national title since its .5 title in 97. Which is almost 20 years ago just FYI.

Oh I think you can totally get realeased from a LOI if the campus is unsuitable for habitation or indeed simply gets blown up by a toxic fireball. Not to worry...

and last time I checked, it was SoCal. My advice if you have to travel there is try to fly into Juan Wayne* Airport instead of LAX.

Now I'd be really worried about Rashan Gary and weather if he'd made an official to SDSU...
