R. Miller Possibly Attending Jr Days

Submitted by ChipBleedingMaize on
According to a scout post, Miller may be thinking about attending a few other Jr. days. As pointed out by the author of the post, Miller was down on other taking visits (Big Will was the example used). IMO he may be doing this as an insurance policy. Heaven forbid something happen that changes his mind (family issues at home in Fla, something with the Michigan program), Miller would then still have an option to turn to. Another theory to all this is that he's going to take a few visits and possibly recruit for Michigan while at other schools. TomVH has done a great job keeping everyone informed as to his intentions with a number of great interviews. In my own opinion he'll be blue. I sure hope that his prediction to Marvin Robinson going to Michigan is true also. One question though... He's R. Miller planning to enroll early. I know its a long ways off yet, but for a kid who seems to have a good head on his shoulders, I wasn't sure if he's said anything about his intentions.

There's too much that can happen to both Michigan and the recruit over the next year. If we have another crappy, losing, non-bowl game season, that will have an impact, and a negative one. Miller or his family could gradually sour on playing so far away from home. Some other high-profile program closer to home could put on a major snake oil marketing job of their own. Grades could end up being a problem. If he ends up at Michigan, great, but recruiting isn't done with the kid, by a long shot.

I would advise him to take as many visits as he could see the world experience and enjoy the all of the fruits of your labors. Many of these kids really work almost at the level of some pro athletes to get a schollie. Let the kid do his thing and go where he feels best. In the process if he changes his mind or start to waver on his commitment. See ya I really am not crazy about a kid coming to Michigan the is not fully commited to being here. I'm not crazy about a kid making the choice and then let A2 grow on them. As for the second point about recruiting other players to U-M he can encourage them to come to U-M but the interest obviously has to be mutual. GO BLUE

I had a post on this, but we decided it wasn't worth it. I talked to Ricardo before all this was posted on places. He told me that he just wants to go places he's never seen before. Quite frankly, I told him he should, because it's free and he's a kid. He was very concerned as to how the fans would react to this. He wanted to make sure that no one looked too much into it, and wanted everyone to know it doesn't mean anything. His exact words were, "It's my grandmothers dream to see her grandson play at Michigan, and I would never let my family down like that." He said he wants to go to bigger name schools because, "Mainly I want to go to places where big name recruits are, so I can be one on one with them and recruit for Michigan. I also just want to see cool places I’ve never been.” He told me, "You can call it what it is, a “visit.” I know that Michigan is my family and I am sticking with Michigan. I may visit another school, but I am staying at HOME, at Michigan.” We talked for about an hour about this, and there's definitely nothing to be worried about.

If I were advising any prospect, even one who has given his verbal, I'd tell him to take as many visits as he can. The only thing I don't understand is why these kids are giving their verbals so early.

there's nothing to be worried about, but the reality is Ricardo is a 5-star talent who will start being courted by the best of the best in college football. He's been brainwashed to love Michigan by his mom his whole life(thank you, ma'am), who knows if a different lightbulb will go off if he goes on a visit to LSU, Alabama or USC? Teams aren't going to let Ricardo on campus so that he could hype up Michigan. That's something we Michigan fans would like to believe. The fewer visits he takes, the better. He's still ridiculously young, and very impressionable. I'd say he's about as solid as a junior commit can be, but...ya never know. BTW, Don, his grades are outstanding.

I asked him what will happen if he starts to hear rumors, or negative recruiting. He said, "screw that, I know what Coach Rod is about, and I know what Michigan is about. There's nothing anyone can say that will change that." He's also already being recruited by a lot of the big programs. He thinks it's funny. He talks to the coaches, and obliges because he's polite.

I love this kid. This is awesome. We need more guys like this. Where can I get his Michigan replica jersey? :) What # does he wear? Maybe I'll order a jersey with his name on it now so when he does show up, and I can't order # due to legal issues, I'll already have one. Good idea? Great. Keep up the great work TomVH.

I just talked to Ricardo via facebook, yes I bit stalk-ish, but he is 100% maize and blue. He is talking about maybe visiting some California schools. He is not on board with UF...when I brought up UF he immediately turned it down. Nice kid!
