He was eerily accurate with his description of Michigan's deficiencies compared to other writers who gave us a pass because we're Michigan. He also introduced me to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I can't wait to check out Eastbound and Down now.

Entourage was ok for a while (driven largely by Ari, which was just a great character), but it's pretty freaking boring now. Never really though it was ever all that good though. Curb is still hilarious. And Dexter is better than anything on HBO now that The Wire and The Sopranos are gone. HBO has really struggled to find a big-time drama series again. I hate(d) True Blood and didn't particularly like Big Love either. I basically keep HBO around for the boxing now.

If you think Entourage is better than Eastbound and Down you don't know television. Entourage = entertaining, with one good character / actor (Piven) and story lines that are starting to get boring / played out (barring a major change in the cast - I can't see it going past 2010/2011). Eastbound and Down = clever / cutting edge comedy with one great character (McBride) that might have been inconsistent at times (but hey - it was the first season and only 6 episodes), but still pretty groundbreaking in terms of a comedic series. Entourage was great while it lasted, but that star is fading.

Same here. The SI.com scoreboards are a bit slow but there is some decent journalism there, including Andy Staples. It doesn't hurt that they compete with Pat Forde, Lou Houltz and other morons writing on espn.

Did anyone else catch this passage at the top of the column? "his ugly departure from West Virginia, critical comments from players who left the program and an ugly story recently about a player found to be dealing cocaine." Mandel is an ass. He could have spent a whopping 2 minutes googling Feagin and found out he was not, in fact, "found to be dealing cocaine."

is not as simple as Mandel thinks... Its actually quite technical and every position has multiple reads and skill sets that it needs to execute on every play. I wonder why Mandel would keep insisting that its simple...

The way I've heard it put is that Rich Rod's spread-option offense is somehwhat to understand than some other offensive systems, but, it can be quite difficult to execute.
