That's a lot of people who watched a dominating effort!!! I can only imagine many of the national viewers were cheering on the Maize and Blue. I know I received text messages from friends across the country who were just as excited as me without allegiance to Michigan. This win, HUGE for national perspective!!!

I don’t think they are in if they lose.  They haven’t looked great, are no longer ranked #2 and there are other good options who have conference titles and less loses.

If they lose and there is chalk… UGA, UM, Cincy, OkSU and ND all have a chance.

It would be great to have new blood in the tourney and I think everyone feels that way.

I agree: if Alabama loses to Georgia, then Alabama is out of the playoffs.  Even if it's a close loss, they're out.

If, however, Alabama beats Georgia, and it's a close game, then I expect both Georgia and Alabama will go to the playoffs.  Assuming Michigan beats Iowa, that makes three.  The fourth spot is anyone's guess at this point.

I live in DC. My son's basketball season started Saturday with a tournament - tipoff at 3:15. I am the coach. Fuck. I rationalized that if The Game was a blowout, the basketball game would be a good distraction and a reminder of what's important in life. If The Game was close, then it would be the only thing that mattered. I was decked out in my M gear and so many people were commenting about the game to me. Everyone was hyped about Michigan and I heard a ton of Go Blue! They also seemed pretty happy about OSU losing, and the snow. I had the game on my phone and I thought I did a good job not looking at it much, but my son says I was watching it the entire time (that's a lie).

That’s awesome.  To add to Ourand’s information, M-MSU had 9.289 million viewers (previous highest rating of the year) and Clemson-UGA had  8.86 million.

Also for comparison, in the 2019 season LSU-Alabama (1 vs 2) had around 16 million viewers and The Game was second with around 12.4 million

What’ll drain the sport down is if they don’t expand the CFP. You can’t have most of the same teams in the thing every single year. This is the year, if Georgia, Michigan and OK St hold serve that you can actually have some different teams in there. That is what drives up ratings. I don’t want to see Bama, Clemson, Ohio St, LSU, OK or Georgia in the stupid thing year after year.
