Postgame Snowflake Thread: Michigan Basketball

It felt a bit tighter than it should be but BGSU is a solid team. Diggs was just on fire that kept the margin of victory closer than it should be.

How about Chaudee Brown? The hype about his shooting seems to be justified.

You have no idea how that guy pissed me off.  I had Michigan -13.5 in my bet.  That one dude alone gave me sweaty palms to the end.  If he missed just a couple times we win comfortably, by maybe 18 to 22 points.  I haven't seen the stats but it seems he missed MAYBE one 3 in the second half?

Michigan's answer was Chaundee Brown.  Gonna start calling him The Microwave.

Liked what I saw for the most part. Dickinson, Smith, and Brown look excellent. Give the team some games to round into form and gel and this is a team that could do some damage.

Chaundee reminds me of Hardaway, Jr. Maybe a little taller and stronger. I like his game. Dickinson should be starting when the big 10 season starts.

The team was 23-34 from 2, with 23 assists. Nice.

Obviously liked his shooting. I couldn't help but feel pessimistic about him before he broke out in the second half. I thought he looked a little slow. Clearly he can get to the right spots, and if people give him room he can knock it down. He's a nice guy to have on the team for sure.

I thought the team played well. Great shooting from Brown, fantastic minutes down low from Hunter (he really looked good putting the ball on the floor and taking it to the rim), and how about Smith!? Great assists, only what, one turnover? Plus solid scoring?

Yeah I’d say it was a good night and we look to have a solid two-deep.

We could obviously improve our defense and our overall shooting (missed A LOT of wide open looks) BUT, they executed the offense and moved the ball VERY well. The shots will fall eventually. Overall the team looks solid and bodes well for the future.

Thank God for basketball lol!

80 is an abysmal number to give up even with 1 guy going nuclear from 3. I’d feel a lot better if we got to 110 which judging by the average shot we generated on offense, that was very doable.

Maybe you didn’t notice but Juwan used this game as an opportunity to get 10 plus guys, including two key freshman, minutes in the first half when BG was still playing hard. That helped keep the game closer but that experience is invaluable and far better than letting the starters run up the score for the first 30 minutes and then letting the other guys get mop up minutes when things get sloppy. That is great coaching by Howard and the other coaches, especially this season when you never know when you may miss a few guys due to Covid and/or injury.

Chaundee Brown and Mike Smith look like huge additions this season. With Wagner, Brooks, and Livers we have legit offensive firepower. The freshman looked ok mainly Dickinson looks to be a big time play maker and I expect will be the starter over Davis when big ten play starts. Williams had a few nice plays and a couple bad ones. Not much from Zeb but they will improve as the season progresses. I think this team is gonna be solid and should be very fun to watch! GO BLUE!

Three new players look to be three of our top six. Chaundee, Dickerson, and Smith was perfect in their roles.

My HOT TAKE:

I also loved Williamson's game in his limited minutes. He plays like an athletic Charles Barkley - better vision, better effort, and better mass than the players around him. Give him a few years in this program and I think he will be the type of player that other teams hate to play against. He will be a fan favorite.

I think the coaches realize playing Zeb may be a necessity at some point this season. If Brooks or Smith get in foul trouble or banged up Zeb has to play some meaningful minutes.

Im hoping he can improve his defensive chops and he can at least use his athleticism to effect the game.

But again i love that our coaches realize this and are getting him real competitive minutes from the get go.
