Post-Season Memes

I am bored and don't feel like working. Hard to stop thinking about a game - and possibly, a national championship - that Michigan should have won.

Thus, I have created this: a captioned image/meme contest. Create the best one and win nothing! Other than the appreciation of your mgoblog compatriots, that is.

I give you a bad one to start things off. It's just what kept popping into my head after the game.

Happy new year to all.

Completely agree.  I'll be interested in seeing analysis from Seth and others about what Michigan did and didn't do well against TCU - in the game I saw it was not at all clear to me which was the better team.  Michigan played desperately and valiantly, but isn't that what one should expect from any final four team not named MSU or Notre Dame?

This game reminded me, unfortunately, of the 1978 Rose Bowl against Washington, where Michigan got behind big to a team everyone underestimated and clawed its way back only to lose in a much more heartbreaking ending than Saturday's game.

Throughout the game I had zero confidence that if Michigan actually made it all the way back and/or took a lead that they would be able to hold onto it.  While Michigan ended up making a lot of big plays, it wasn't evident to me that Michigan figured anything out offensively or that they would have had a clue how to run their offense if they got within one score of winning  or actually took possession of the ball with a lead.  (They certainly looked clueless on their final series). I had far more confidence in TCU's ability to move the ball in short yardage or come up with a big defensive play if they absolutely had to.

As for a meme, I don't have much to offer other than a bitter paraphrase of Mike Tyson:   Everyone's got a plan...until they punch themselves in the mouth.

You mean the already tired memes like Harbaugh can't win in the post season, and is interviewing with NFL teams, and constant bitching and speculation about things like "unleashing McCarthy" and NIL and other things that will never ever happen? Fuckkk that.  Let's just settle and be happy for what we have which is a great, but not elite team that sticks to a way of doing things because we're Michigan damn it. Accept the delusion and arrogance and be satisfied with our approach. It's what Bo would want. Winning, but never getting a Natty bc Charles Woodson ain't walking through the door. The only thing better than winning Natty's is playing with toughness and dominating the line of scrimmage. That shit gets us off like the purest meth.  We don't need championships if we play tough and pound the rock.

I greatly admire all of you “youngsters” who are able to do this graphic wizardry. At 74, I don’t feel I’m a luddite but I certainly can’t compete with these graphics.

I’ve been on the site since 2009 and rarely post, but I find the need to post something to cope with my post-game swirl of emotions that just won’t abate.  So I offer W-HOPE: White Heights of Positive Expectations. BPONE is not for me.

Best wishes to all for the New Year!
