One of my local pastors is an expert at home brew, having done it for nearly 35 years. He's mentored numerous others of us, including some of the younger pastors in the area, in the fine details of turning grain and hops into amber goodness. We Lutherans love our beer.

Imo, some of the best beer made are the Belgian strongs/ales brewed by Trappist monks. Chimay, St Bernadus, etc. They've been brewing for centuries.?

Members of my fam get the altitude sickness, so we tend to go to Deer Valley... They closed super early this year with some of the best base snow they have had in decades. I wanted to go out again but its closed.... oh well, beer!

If straight liquor makes you puke, you've been drinking crap, haven't learned to pace yourself, or haven't put in the effort to appreciate it and acquire a taste for it (which applies to beer and wine too). Plenty of whiskies, rums, mezcal, etc. that taste delicious and are better for your waistline than beer and wine.
That said, I'm planning on drinking some knob creek single barrel bourbon (store pick) later.
Or people can just drink what they enjoy.

Looking at trying a new whiskey this weekend - had Maker's 46 recommended. Any thoughts or other choices in the same price range? Any suggestions other than Scotch are welcome.
Old forester (bourbon) is my favorite, they have different bottles for different prices so you should be able to find something in that price range
If you like maker's, their barrel proof is good. The 46 is also a good choice for a wheated bourbon. Maybe try some weller's special reserve if you see some cheap? Larceny too. Or pappy's if you don't have a budget or want it from a bar.
Edit: makers barrel proof is called cask strength. You will likely need to water it down some when drinking because the proof will be high.
Coppercraft (out of holland, mi) has a new (ish) bourbon that’s been winning a bunch of awards right around that price point. Good stuff
Huge fan of 1792 and Elijah Craig personally, especially if you get one of their single barrels
Next week is my last before I go to two days a week and spends the other three living my dream as an MGoTrophy Husband and stay at home dad. Can’t wait!!!!!
