Pizza in the Big House

Buddy’s pizza is in Cottage Inn is out. Detroit style is replacing an Ann Arbor institution. Maybe some Atwater Brewing products to wash it down.

Source: we were told this at the Event Team summer training. They had no info on beer sales ( still on the Guv’s desk, unsigned). Thoughts among us ushers was no beer this year at football, maybe secure license and do a  test run at a cupcake basketball/ hockey game.

I’ve looked at crappy pizzas they dish out at the stadium for what, two decades, and they look inedible. I hope buddy’s can do better.  It’s a big opportunity to introduce their great pizza to a huge audience and I hope they haven’t (so to speak) bitten off more than they can chew.

Kill the Ann Arbor businesses.

Can we pay to have our trash picked up from NIL osu favorite Boren Bros.as well?

BITE the hand that feeds you.

I HOPE somebody (Warde) is vetting all vendors for BIG NIL sponsorships?

Go Blue.

Cottage Inn will do just fine whether it is inside the stadium or not. Regardless of vendor, my chief complaint about stadium pizza continues to be that sometimes it is a hollow parody of the original product, which would be a shame if that were the case with Buddy's as it is an institution in this area as well. It's just another reason I eat before I go - that, and I am famously frugal, at least within my family.

I think the critical element here would be to overpay the staff and emphasize the importance of the brand and that this is a huge opportunity.

That's almost solely on Buddy's to recognize and execute.

That being said, as a small business owner, getting people to give a shit is challenging in today's labor market - and that's not necessarily a bad thing overall, just a challenge.

good. what they served in the stadium was awful. i dont know why they havent taken advantage of all the real estate they own to diversify the food offerings and give some better and varied options... and use the space around the stadium, not just tucked under the seats. the logjam from that is ridiculous - then when u see what u just bought.. it gets even more so.

Put drink depots out in a few tents. Find some vendors - local is great - who can cook up some stuff in large quantities... maybe create a fun tented area outside the stadium for people to hang/drink/eat to avoid the swarms.

I know im now in the older crowd, but we pay the dang bills!

I was always personally a fan of the guy handing out $5 Dominos pizzas on Hoover St. after the game. I was in school during the RichRod years and there were a lot of games where I felt like I needed to eat my feelings afterwards.

That guy probably made a lot of money those years.

What, no little sleazers???🤪

I remember getting a $5 hot and ready at Joe Louis back in the day. Except it cost $20 and was a luke warm piece of cardboard.

I have had only one Michigan Stadium pizza experience and I remember it vividly. Years ago as an enthusiastic undergrad, we decided to party until 3am. We all woke up at 7 and pounded a few cups of coffee and got back to it. It was a September game and probably around 90 degrees. At this point, something made me realize I hadn’t consumed any food in a solid 18 hours. I went and bought one of the pizzas, and ate the entire thing in what felt like 5 minutes. It probably was a supremely crappy pizza, but at that moment I was in heaven. Thanks for that (and your lunch buffet at the Stadium location) memory Cottage Inn.

Buddy’s is phenomenal, but it still does not beat the original Detroit Style Deep Dish, and that is from Cloverleaf.

Had season tickets from 1985-2005, and in the 80's and I believe most of the '90s they had Dominos Pizza.  Was like $7 for a small pizza.  Worth the money and it was good, although you could take coolers into the stadium in the mid-late 80's for sure so maybe that helped.  Was hot with plenty of sauce, cheese and pepperoni.

They also had someone that made a pork chop sandwich.  That thing was awesome!

Many more vendors around the outside of the stadium at that time (inside the fence of course).  Although I don't go to many games now as tv seems to suit me fine these days.
