Pistons Trade for Trevor Ariza, additional 1st

For those following the NBA.

Pistons got Ariza and the 16th pick for a future 1st rounder.

Do not think they will be keeping Ariza.

I am very much a fair weather Pistons fan but that future 1st rounder makes me nervous.  Adding a 1st rounder in a draft that is by all accounts a weaker draft could come back to bite the Pistons if they end up losing a top 10 pick.  Hope the protection is strong.....

Never a fan of trading away future 1sts but that pick has TONS of protections.  Ariza is just trade bait.  Weird that they sold their 2nd rd pick next year to Houston for cash too.  Houston is hard capped so you'd think you could take advantage of them and Morey isn't there anymore either.  More excitement for tonight, I guess.  Pistons could use some excitement.  Supposedly worked out Aaron Nesmith who'd be in that 15,16 range.  Best shooter in draft.  Would be fine with Williams, Hayes, or Haliburton at 7.

As long as Tom Gores is still the owner, none of this will matter the Pistons will continue to be complete garbage.

Great trade. Low risk with huge upside. They can flip Ariza for assets at trade deadline plus the future 1st is heavily protected for the next 9 years which won't matter much down the road. That means they can tank until Emoni Bates enters the draft

This seems like the worst draft class in a while, so I'd rather they hold on to their future picks, but it's protected enough that it's not really a risky move. So, pretty meh.

Great pick. You knew it was the Pistons' guy when they made the pick literally 2 seconds when their clock was called.

I would have also been cool with Obi Toppin- however, I am definitely concerned where he'd play with Wood- not sure how great he'll be in the league.

PG is the biggest need for the Pistons.

I think Blake, DRose and Ariza will get moved sometimes this season for assets. Ariza seems the most likely bc of his 3 and D ability. DRose should've been moved last season but has an expiring contract. If he can repeat last season, he'll definitely get moved to a contender. Blake is a wildcard but hopefully desperate team will bite on Blake.
