gave up about 50 yards and 3.5 points more than the Michigan defense this year.
I was just eyeballing, not exact figures. Just from what I saw, Doc Brown is putting up gaudier numbers than Narduzzi.
and this is only his first year.

Don Brown also walked into having a 1st round CB, very good CBs in Stribling and Clark, and Jabrill Peppers, along with solid safeties in Dymonte and Delano. Not like he walked into a rebuilding situation here

+1 self-aware. ;-)

With those stats, it sounds like "Throwing at Lewis or Stribling" could be MSU's starting QB.

It's such a luxury having our DBs. On the off chance our DL doesn't get pressure and an intermediate/deep ball gets thrown, the sense of panic I normally feel before the camera pans downfield just isn't there anymore.

Stribling should get more accolades than he does, because he's constantly being "picked on" by opposing teams (rightfully) terrified on Lewis. He has really stepped up his game this year and - as you note - seems to improve tangibly from week to week.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:27 AM ^
Absent an injury, Stribling will be in the league. Size and skills will give him that shot ... and his game speed is plenty sufficient.
How he tests on things like the 40 will likely disprapotionately influence which round he goes in. But he's put up plenty of data at this point to almost certainly be drafted.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:33 AM ^
He's played exceptionally well, and he has quite a bit of data to go by. No one is throwing Jourdan Lewis' way, so when an opposing team does decide to throw on us, it's usually to Stribling's side of the field. And he's delivered.
He has the size and frame that the NFL is looking for, so if he keeps getting better, he can make himself into a late Day 2, or very early Day 3 prospect.

this D is unreal. I'm so excited for the remainder of the season. High hopes!

DL is certainly helping that!

Such a reputable D makes OCs think it foolish to run, so they try to throw, playing right into the strengths--pass rush and lockdown coverage.

:D A solid, shut-yo-ass down D makes me smile huge. It has to be psychological warfare, not getting 1yd passing in a half or to have a total of 39yds in a game.

I figured that the QBR regarding Stribling and Lewis would have been pretty low, but I guess I didn't fully realize how low it would be. That's impressive and a half.
Although, now that I think about it, I guess it isn't too shocking when you look at other measures though - that S&P+ Success Rate, for example, is 18.5%. That's not a typo at all - offenses are only getting necessary yardage on downs 18.5% of the time against Michigan. Unreal indeed.

The DL helps the secondary and the secondary helps the DL. Don Brown will sleep like a baby Saturday night.
