Not until we have a new coach, wait out the recruiting class decisions, speculate on other Warde Manuel ethical worries, bitch about NIL a little more and postulate on how this affects our ability to believe we are better than everyone else. There is also a 2 year extension option that automatically vests if the new coach previously worked on Mel's staff.

Unfortunately, they now have to hire a coach in August. But because practice just started I imagine the coaching search will get less attention than it would've in, say, May. There will probably be a front page post on this too, because while it's no fun it's important.

Thank god for football, it will make all of this go quicker.

His positives are just really obvious hires and decisions: Juwan Howard (who else were they going to hire that late in the process, Ed Cooley??) and Mel Pearson. Harbaugh’s contract restructuring cut base pay in half and increase incentives may have seemed risky but it was clear there was no NFL interest in him, he wasn’t going to walk.

My issue is how he welcomes USC/UCLA to the B1G exclusively for money yet shames recruits who have NIL at the top of their list (I would too). But even as Michigan rakes in more and more money from TV revenue, he’s continued to raise ticket prices, done nothing to improve fan experience, and is expecting fans to pay those increased prices while he worsens the future product on the field with his NIL high horse. Very hypocritical

I'm looking forward to at least three more threads covering the topic..... and hopefully a successor is named within the next 12 to 24 hours..... or there will be several threads a day speculating on Mel's replacement.....

This whole thing looks bad for the athletic department.  I think Warde needs to be held responsible for how this was handled.  At least an explanation of what took so long after the report was delivered.  I mean, if there was an agreement to not renew his contract and Pearson was appealing that decision in some way, then yeah, I’ll give Warde some leeway.  But if this was just Warde hoping that he could somehow weather this and retain him then……. hoo boy.   Not a good look.

Could have and should have happened months ago. It’s crazy how much Manuel has damaged the hockey program by dithering for so long.

Feels like the odds are that either Muckalt or Naurato get the nod at this point right? Even if it's just interim head coach for the season. Not sure who else you are getting that is capable right now

JFC, I just want something nice to work out for Michigan, so it's not always thrown in our face. I wanted Mel to work out and be his retirement spot, but he obviously wasn't capable of doing the right thing when it mattered.

I'm assuming it's not easy hiring your "guy" in August, is it?
