Out of the Box DC Candidate

Tanned, rested and ready is the DC of our ferocious 1985 defense as featured by The Wolverine Historian.  Gary Moeller is still part of the Michigan family and though no spring chicken he is a bit younger than Monte Kiffin.  If he is at all interested in getting back into coaching this could be a good fit  and a chance to expunge the unfortunate feelings that surrounded his departure.  A few years with Mo at the helm to get traditional Michigan toughness back into the defense and then have him groom a successor.

On the one hand, it would be great, because Moeller was a great DC in his time at Michigan.  But RR has enough problems with the Lloyd faction in AA; hard to see why he would hire someone who would give the Lloyd crew an ideal HC replacement if RR was ever to go down.

Unfortunate that such political factors would play a role, but that's life.

Rumor has it that Carl Pelini is going to be gone from Nebraska after this year.  Coming from a usually reliable source, C. Pelini has had an illicit relationship with a Nebraska cheerleader and Tom Osbourne caught wind of it.  Apparently, Osbourne was incensed and asked for his resignation effective at season's end or be fired.  Of course that's something they are going to try and keep quiet at NEB., but if Bo Pelini's brother is gone at season's end, we know why.

I mention this b/c he is an up and coming DC with an impressive resume.  I think it would be very difficult to get him to come to Michigan as DC as he would be coaching against his brother in conference.  Though........Hell, it's worth a try.  If Gerg is no longer here that is.
