This was the NHL's choice, not the Olympics. The KHL was happy to send their players.

The IOC had been paying for the NHL's participation costs associated with travel, insurance and accommodations for the players and their guests but told the NHL it would not continue to pay those costs for 2018. With the risk of injury from playing, the IOC is more to blame than Bettman...

Good young crop of Yankees are coming up to make it way closer. Gaudreau, eichel, matthews, larkin, debrincat, boeser, gostisbehere, keller, seth jones. I hope they at least do a world cup of hockey this year.
