OT: Working on Saturday Open Thread

Submitted by captainlonghair on
Anyone else out there at the office today? I work every Saturday 9-5, so it's not like I was asked to come in today for extra work. The worst part about working Saturdays was working throughout the fall on football Saturdays. People up here in the Northeast don't understand college football and it's attraction. It caused me to miss more than half of the season's games and, I can't remember the last time (if ever) I didn't attend or watch the MSU and OSU games. Griping and venting welcomed.

hard to complain about having a job right now, i have tried. seems like you have access to the internet though, so you may have been able to keep in touch with the games at work. can't the sports/work intersection before the internet. how did people keep track of their pools or teams or whatever? the radio? lame.

Usually 1/2 to 3/4 of a day on either Sat or Sun. Schedule is pretty flexible and I'm able to watch / attend most of the games in the fall. I also have 100% internet access, so short of having a tv, I stay in the loop. I'm an attorney and work in a small (7 attorney) office in Dearborn. Been doing this schedule ever since I finished school in 2002. Can't bitch too much...better than not having enough work to come in or no job at all!

I am a tax accountant so I am stuck in the office every Saturday from January to April. The only positive is that if I am going to be stuck working on Saturdays in Michigan, it might as well be in the winter!

I am not at the office but I am stuck"working" at home today. I was supposed to go play indoor golf with some friends but that fell through now my wife figures since I have no plans now I can stay home and help her do hear monthly deep cleaning. I even had to sneak to check the site for news just like at work. At least you all are getting paid. Nothing good ever comes out of cancelled plans that didn't include your wife.

I work about one saturday a month from 9-1 CST (Adult Education) and this is my first in a new job. As for college football season I might have to DVR one a month but I will have to learn to deal-not happy

And I thought working on homework in the lab was a hassle. Thanks for the perspective. I can probably just enjoy playing around with ModelSim for a few hours... Good luck to everyone doing real work today!
