We weren't impressive against Wisconsin.
October 19th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
We were impressive for a while against Illinois, then got unimpressive, then things went okay again.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:20 PM ^
Having said that, I like their alternate uni's
October 19th, 2019 at 3:51 PM ^
I think the OP chose his wording to avoid the jinx. Nice job, OP
October 19th, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
There is an argument to be made that we are improving, since we played Illinois last week, and Wisconsin 4 weeks ago.
Regardless, we're all going to die one day. So it doesn't really matter.
October 19th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Illinois are a bad Big Ten team, but they aren't a bad MAC team. Most importantly, it doesn't feel like they've given up on their season and coaching staff unlike Rutgers. Illinois is trying. They clearly tried hard vs us, they tried hard vs Nebraska. The outcomes aren't good because they are bad, but they aren't generally lambs led to the slaughter.
October 19th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
Fair assessment. And Brandon Peters would be a terrific MAC QB if that's where he had ended up.
October 19th, 2019 at 2:59 PM ^
they lost to emu which is 3-3 so im not so sure they arent a bad MAC team
October 19th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
Too bad they were impressive against us.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:02 PM ^
Brandon Peters just did a Shea on 4th and one and failed to read a crashing end
October 19th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
That wasn't a read. Straight handoff.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:04 PM ^
What's happening is they are overlooking a team they don't respect because they have to play the best team in the country on the road next week.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
Oh well, maybe they shouldn't have done that.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
You are probably right but I still like the way Illinois played.
October 19th, 2019 at 6:35 PM ^
That was my thought. And now my thought is I hope Wiscy re-focuses and goes into Columbus with their A-game and crack the bucknuts. M needs that to happen, Wiscy diminished our B1G championship hopes, we need them to give us a little help now. Assuming of course M takes care of business going forward...
October 19th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
Illinois is secretly a top five team you'll see!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
They were just waiting to open up their playbook against us and Wisconsin.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Exactly...B1G is the toughest conference cause we have to play each other!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
Well, this is interesting...
October 19th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
Good thing we don’t have to play Illinois again.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
We would have beaten them again.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
I'm just going to say it - that beard is spectacular.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
I think this game and last week is making clear Illinois' coaching staff is doing a good job at half time making adjustments. Don't know who to root for?
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Illinois, no?
October 19th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
Making a team look like Alabama against us and then have them struggle against Northwestern and Illinois seems to happen too much to us. Same thing with Ohio State last year.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
23-21 getting tight
October 19th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
Ohio State is going to beat the living tar out of Wisconsin next week at the Shoe. After an entire week’s buildup as an “intriguing” matchup, this won’t even come close to living up to the hype.
The suicide watch for the posters here at mgoblog will go up three levels. And we’ve been on suicide watch since the Army game...so next week is going to be....bad.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
Luckily for Wisconsin, they’ve got 5 other great performances to lean on. Would mediocre vs Illinois and n’w, but that’s ok.
For us, Illinois was our second or third best performance of the season. Which is not good
October 19th, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
Not quite so bad for Michigan fans. Wolverines just beat Illinois soundly at Illinois. This only makes Michigan look better.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
How does it make Michigan look better?
We’ve already lost to Wisconsin and Illinois didn’t have Peters last week.
October 19th, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
Jeebus.
It must be tiring looking for every opportunity to hate Michigan.
You're assumption is that Michigan would not have beaten Brandon Peters led Illinois? /smh
October 19th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Thank you, clarkiefromcanada. I really, really didn't expect a reply to my comment. Yours made me laugh.
Peters was 9 of 21. I don't think he makes much of a difference though I wish him well.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Holy shit! Illinois is gonna have a chance to win this game!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Atleast illinois’s O coord has brains enough to throw vertical
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Oh shit
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
What a play by the Illini DB.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
To the contrary, Illinois is impressive against Wisconsin. That last TD pass by Peters was DO and only where Imatorbhebhe could catch it. Peters is a solid QB who throws a good ball. Corbin & Brown are good RB’s, and the OL is doing a great job making holes and giving Peters enough time to unload it. Illinois as a team is getting better, and they’re getting TO’s like crazy.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
His performance reminds me a lot of Shane Morris. Leaves Michigan and stops losing his head when he gets the snap. We have to start asking ourselves why Shea Patterson, Peters, and Morris have been very good quarterbacks when not in the maize and blue.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
Shane Morris wasn't all that good at CMU
October 19th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
Shane Morris 56% of his throws for an average of 7.3 ypa at CMU. Those are below-average MAC numbers. Peters completed 9 of 21 passes for 8.3 ypa, and most of that came on a 50 yard catch and run. They are both serviceable QBs, and I think Peters is an average big 10 QB, but it's revisionist history to act like they got much better after UM.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Go Peters go!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Fuck the media!!! Gave us shit and look at what is happening now! Illinois better than the experts predicted.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Illinois this week>>>>>>>>>Illinois last week. Difference: Peters.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
Their defense is the same as last week though.
October 19th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
Peters was 9-21
if anything there back little guy and the bigger one made some plays.
I feel better about UM after this game. Think our run D is rounding out. And maybe our running O could be turning a new page. Jury still out on the O obviously.
think OSU blows out Wisc. But at least now Wisc will be dialed in for sure after a week of getting chewed out
October 19th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
The hell is Illinois doing? Running the ball, running the clock...
October 19th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Wisconsin is going to lose to Illinois!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Lovie gonna save his job win or lose here. Two gritty games against Michigan and now Wisconsin. The beard stays!!!
October 19th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
I think Illinois could pull this off
October 19th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
Please win this Illiniguys!
