It's like the weird plastic surgery that female celebrities and faded movie stars get done to themselves. It seems that they are blind to how they actually look to the outside world.

Seriously, I've heard that in the Dominican Republic (where Sosa is from), rates of cosmetic surgery are really high. Many people there apparently have complexes about their African roots, ashamed to be originally from the same continent as their Haitian neighbors (whom Dominicans tend to look down upon). Those with the means will often do whatever they can to look more white.

To steal a line from Stewie Griffin, Sosa's face is ghastlier than a thousand ghouls.
Also, if his wife no longer wants to hang out with the Crypt Keeper, I (and I'm sure a few other mgoblog readers) would definitely pick up the phone if she called.
