OT- What coaching job would you choose?

Submitted by Ball Hawk on
There will be a few coaching jobs available by the end of the season. What school would you choose and why? I was thinking about the Baylor, LSU, Texas and USC openings assuming they become available. Texas has great instate talent. Baylor has been getting a lot of the Texas talent. LSU has a stacked team already to be coached plus the hotbed for recruiting. My choice would be USC because of the recruiting history, weather and a weaker conference. What do you think?

I would buy players hookers and cocaine, provide them bags of cash, and work to get their grades fixed, work with Vegas bookies to fix games, and hire a known pedophile. I would leave a paper trail that would make Nazi Germany proud, so that maybe, just maybe, that would get them banned for a decade or so... Though I doubt the ncaa would do a damn thing. Maybe if I go over allotted practice time, they'll act.

ND is the obvious answer. Hire good coordinators, win 10-11 games once or twice, get a massive contract extension, then spend the rest of your life sitting on a beach after you're fired for having a losing season. If not ND then whomever is paying the most $.

Texas. Basically unlimited resources, weak conference, own tv network and Texas is one of the top recruiting states. I would hate the summer heat but I am pretty sure that salary would make it ok.

Whichever one would pay me the most guaranteed money.  I assume I would suck as a coach (no experience), so I would plan to be fired almost immediately.

An argument can be made for the three excluding Baylor.

1. You have to follow that shitshow? No thanks.

2. You will always play at an instate disadvantage to Texas and A&M. Especially if Texas turns it around. Baylor just doesn't have the resources -- facilities, boosters, athletic program to compete with UT.

3. The Big 12 is in bad shape and is facing a tumultuous future. Texas is so big and rich that they are immune to all of that.

I'd probably rank them Southern Cal, Texas, LSU, Baylor.

oh.  wait.  that wasn't one of the choices.

texas or usc.  i married a USC grad and lived/worked near there.  i'd need to do some due diligence about UT to make a final determination.
