OT: USA v. Mexico Gold Cup Final open thread

Submitted by Genzilla on

At 9:00 PM (ET) the US soccer team takes on Mexico in the Gold Cup Final.  These 2 teams do not like each other.  They're playing for pride, for the regional championship, and most importantly, they're playing for a berth in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.

If you only get interested in soccer every 4 years for the World Cup, tune in tonight, because it will be that kind of atmosphere in the Rose Bowl.

The game can be seen on Fox Soccer and Univision.

is not the same quality that he was before he got hurt or we could bring him in and shift someone else outside instead of Bornstein. Adu has been a nice surprise for us so far, hope he keeps it up

Is he not on this roster? Is he still not recovered from the patella tendon injury? or did he have another injury? Haven't heard it mentioned, and if it is the old injury is he ever expected to back to near 100%? Our back line sure does miss his presence. I think it may be time to bring in spector

Leftback or Defensive Midfield with his passing skills, but as a Centerback he's been flatfooted and exposed regularly. When He and Bornstien pair on the left I die a little inside. Bocanegra reminds me of Scholes in his ability to settle down the midfield and tackle, and advance the offense with his passing. Bradley needs to stop playing him as a center half and needs to stop playing Bornstien in defense. He can't defend. Play Bornstien in left midfield maybe, but not back. We have athletic, hard working defenders in the MLS. Play them. Marvel Wynne has more than enough pace to play the leftback, Chad Marshall and Geoff Cameron are solid defenders, Omar Gonzales is good too. Why don't the best MLS defenders ever play, Bob?

Mexico already used up 2 subs and they played a ton of minutes especially an OT win over Houndras.  They could be tired in the 2nd half which could play into USA's favor.  If Bradley can make timely sub of Aguedelo in 60 min so Juan have fresh legs and can run behind Mexico defense late in the game for an important possible goal.

This might be the worse I have seen a US defense look since the abortion that was the Spain game a few weeks ago... Looks like every time Mexico brings the ball up they get behind the D.

When does the convo begin about who the next national goalie is? Spare me the typical rhetoric. Howard makes big saves but he's quickly Osgood'ing IMO
