OT: Tigers - Yankees
Detroit is coming off a brutal sweep at the hands of the not-so-powerful Mariners. Verlander on the hill and looks like the Tigers are going to have to lean on him once again.
Probably a little too early to be seriously concerned just yet, but what's the deal with the Tigs offense? Seems that Prince has yet to truly find a groove thusfar in Detroit.
Thoughts on when Delmon Young will be back in the lineup?
The deal is that they don't have very many guys who can hit the ball.
As a Yanks fan, hopefully these offensive struggles continue, because I don't see us having a good day vs Verlander.
Sigh, it's tough to root for Grandy because he's a Yankee now but he is quite possible the nicest and most humble guy in sports that I've had an interaction with. Always will be one of my favorite players despite the pinstripes
They need a new hitting coach. They have never really hit the ball well under Lloyd except for the first half of the 2007 season. We will also have to go shopping for another Fister if Scherzer and Porcello can't get straightened out.
2011
3rd in AVG, 4th in OBP, 4th in SLG, 4th in OPS, 4th in runs
2010
5th in AVG, 8th in OBP, 11th in SLG, 10th in OPS, 11th in runs
It ain't the X's and O's, it's the Jimmy's and Joe's.
Eldred with an RBI triple in his first AB since being called up from Toledo! Tigers could use a spark like him, that's for sure.
Eldred. Boom.
Three straight singles! Congrats to Miggy for career RBI 1000. A big inning on taps here: 1 run in, no outs, 2 on with Fielder up.
EDIT: 4 straight... weird to see so many seeing-eye singles in a row. We'll take it.
3 hits tonight! Amazing. Nice 2-run double to retake the lead here in the 6th.
Good to see the offense really clicking tonight. Still pretty concerned about Boesch, though. He has really been struggling in the early going of the season after many predicted a breakout year for him. It's early, but I think the Tigers might have to move him out of that 2 spot.
Make it a 4 hit night for AJAX. Good stuff.

I don't know at this point... I'm starting to think this team just ain't as good as everyone thought they were going to be. That's 5 in a row now.

The good news is that they have a long time to fix their problems because it doesn't look like anyone else in the Central is poised to run away from them.

I agree, its still April, the bats will heat up with the weather. However seeing the back end of the bullpen struggle aside from Dotel and Coke is a bit troubling. Benoit already has 9 walks I believe and he only had 17 all of last year, throw strikes boys.

has not been a strength so far, but i'm beginning to wonder if it's all one big snowball. Everybody looks too tight, nobody looks like they're having fun.
Yes, still April and too early to really worry. But they do need a spark.

Another sloppy affair. Yanks were probably a little less sloppy than the Tigers, but still, not aesthetically pleasing. Would love to see the Tigs make routine plays. That being said, who gives a shit, it's still April, the Tigers are right in the thick of it, the bats have yet to thunder and Fister has yet to contribute.
yankees fan. was at the game. had this one chalked up as a loss with verlander on the mound. glad to see i was wrong.
