OT - Tigers sweep second straight series

Submitted by Maizerage05 on
Tigers get 19 hits today, Bonderman gets the win 8-3. That is 6 wins in a row, and Detroit moves within 1.5 of Minnesota (Ubaldo got his 13th win today against the Twins). I know it is just the Pirates and Nationals, but it seems the Tigers are finally putting good pitching and batting together.

The Tigers have a bottom of the lineup that can produce. I think that's what killed most games was the .180ish batting average out of the 6-9 hitters. Also, doesn't hurt that the starters are going longer than 5 innings.

Also, good to see they are picking up wins now, as the schedule turns after this weekend's series vs. the Diamondbacks -- 9 game road trip @ NY Mets, Atlanta, Minnesota.

Started watching the tigs in 84.  Stayed a fan through the horrible 90's.  Never wavered as a fan but  had to take a lot of Advil.  The start of the new century came with the same old tigers.  If sweeping two teams in a row only means the tigers are "decent", then I'll take "decent" and be happy.  "Decent" has got to be better than the 20 year stretch us older tiger fans endured.

Need to take care of the teams that you are supposed to be beating.  The best part is that all of our young players Jackson, Boesch, etc.... are major contributors which looks great for the future of this team.

Side Note; I can't believe Miguel Cabrera is 3rd in All Star voting for 1st baseman.  Does that just baffel anyone else?!  He is quietly having a MVP season but really getting no national attention.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game but I heard it on the radio and i really hope Cabrera makes the All-Star game as a starter. I also hope Boesch continues to rape other teams pitching because without him and Cabrera we are probaly a 40 win team. Now let's go after Cliff Lee or Oswolt and let's return to the World Series!

The Tigers have been hot and cold all year.  It's nice to see us put together a good run, but you can't just handwave the fact that we did it against two subpar national league teams.  We need to be a little more consistent and less streaky before I'm totally sold.

I see people hating on Detroit for beating Pitt and Washington but this is the same Pirates team that the Cubs cant seem to beat and not too long ago the Nationals were in 1st. Winning 6 in a row is still an accomplishment regardless of who you play.

1.5 back behind the Twinkies in mid-June. Its basically between the Twins and Tigers, maybe the Sox if they can rip off like 10 in a row.
