OT: TED- SixthSense Technology

Obviously being off-season and the end of all major sports until the World Cup I was pretty bored and getting precariously close to having to start studying for exams. Procrastinating was difficult untill I came across www.ted.com. Basically interesting people around the world talk about what they do. This video was absolutely amazing

I'm pretty sure that baseball may have an argument for that statement.

A couple of weeks before the end of winter semester TED gave a presentation in Ann Arbor. It was amazing to see what stuff is being developed. Some people are just plain smart.

Generally, though, I find TED talks to be performative and self-congratulatory in a really annoying way.  BigThink.com has talks from a similar range of academics/researchers/captains of industry but in a format that resembles less closely some guy masturbating on stage.

TED.com is fantastic.  So many great topics, and they typically keep them to 20  minutes or less.   Its a gold mine.   Just keep looking, there are so many great talks.

I wonder if Brian can/would break down the stats for mgoblog users (particularly age) to see if/where the divide in knowledge for topics like TED occur.  It seems we, the mgoblog community, are an educated crowd, i just dont know how technologically educated we may be
