OT: In-state RB David Holloman to Indiana, other tidbits
Auburn Hills (MI) Avondale running back David Holloman just committed to Indiana. He did not have a Michigan offer, but he's a 3-star, the #68 running back, and #885 overall. I bring him up for a couple reasons. First, he has pretty tantalizing speed with a 4.39 forty. Second, this is Mike Hart jumping into the state of Michigan to recruit. And third, Indiana has done a pretty good job of developing running backs in recent years. Holloman has an older brother (Joshuwa), who played at Cincinnati and then Eastern Michigan.
In other in-state news, Michigan State has landed a couple 3-star prospects (DE Tyson Watson from Warren Mott and Ethan Boyd from East Lansing).
And Davison quarterback Brendan Sullivan committed to Northwestern recently (3-star, #26 pro-style quarterback, #726 overall).
I'm not bringing this up as "Michigan is losing in-state recruiting battles!" but I just like to keep track of home-state guys we'll probably see on the field against Michigan in the next few years.
Does Sheridan also recruit the state of Michigan? That's a team i'll keep my eye on moving forward with Hart and Sheridan acting as Associate HC and OC.
I think Sheridan has OH and IN. I don't know of him doing much in MI even though he's from Saline.
An unfortunate commitment today. 2022 (OH) 4* CB C.J. Hicks has committed to Ohio St.
Damn so much for him being a potential package deal with Markus Allen and Rod Moore.
Hicks is good friends with OSU commit Jaylen Johnson, if ever there was a package deal, it was likely to be with him. I believe the coaching staff has been expecting Hicks' commitment since they offered in early April.
How soon before Markus Allen decommits?
I don't know how to react to the lack of over-reaction here.
Maybe everyone's starting to realize that Michigan is always the bridesmaid.
For this group? Okay...
crg, thinking this might help
anyone that feels the need can push the panic button.
hand-wringers all better now? good.
Thanks Magnus? Any thoughts on Sullivan? NU is my other rooting interest, but totally understand if you haven't watched any film on him.
Not too many thoughts on him, but I wasn't overly impressed when I checked him out a few weeks ago. I don't like the way he throws the ball (kind of a Phillip Rivers thing).
He's no future #1 pick like Clayton Thorson.
You are one of the last remaining lifelines to football, and I'm so grateful for it, Magnus. THANK YOU.
If Michigan wanted Holloman they would have gotten him....move on...
Hire Mike Hart as our running back coach.
*head coach
He will be our next head coach after Harbaugh loses the next 3 or 4 games to osu.
If we throw the Harbaugh salary at him, we should be recruiting P.J. Fleck !
3 AND 4 games.
FIFY
"Michigan is losing in-state recruiting battles!"
To alumni, no less!
Hopefully he's not the next Hamler.
He probably will be. He'll streak by one of our linebackers for the winning catch on a wheel route to finally end the IU drought.
He's not anywhere near that dynamic.
Non of those guys are Michigan offer worthy. Good get for Indiana.
I really appreciate that you make these posts. I also enjoy keeping tabs
Magnus - I don't follow recruiting very closely other then posts on here and Touch The Banner. Why's Holloman ranked so low? A 4.4 forty is pretty damn fast.
a) I'm kind of amazed by the 4.39 forty time, because he doesn't play anywhere near that fast. I've seen 4.5 or 4.6 kids who have faster turnover.
b) His change of direction is very labored. He doesn't have that jump-cut lateral quickness you want to see. When he changes direction suddenly, he looks like he's about to fall down.
He truly seems like one of those guys who probably runs fast in a straight line without football pads weighing him down, but when you add pads and obstacles, he's just not that dangerous.
That explains it. Thanks!
Thanks!!
WOW, he is Fred Jackson FAST!
5 fakes out of 5 on that 40 time.
Good for him. IU is a good school.
Same for QB going to NW.
But fuck MSU.
Said he ran a laser timed 4.33 at the opening... if he really is that fast you go after him and sign him instead of these guys running 4.6 ... This is speed in space we need
Mel Tucker has performed better than I expected on the recruiting front. He was way behind and inherited a tire fire.
Can we just hire Mike Hart already? WTF??
For what? Jaybaugh is doing a fantastic job. He’s probably our best recruiter as well
He’s doing worse than I thought. All the Athletic articles written about him made it seem like he’d jumpstart their recruiting real quick. They have no recruits in the top 500 yet.
I’m not bringing this up for the reason of Michigan losing the in state recruiting battle but in 2-3 years if any of these guys are the real deal I will start a thread on how I told you so and we lost the in state recruiting battle and that’s why we can’t win the big one
Hart doing well. He keeps making noise and a top tier P5 school will offer him soon.
