OT: In-state RB David Holloman to Indiana, other tidbits

Submitted by Magnus on May 1st, 2020 at 2:31 PM

Auburn Hills (MI) Avondale running back David Holloman just committed to Indiana. He did not have a Michigan offer, but he's a 3-star, the #68 running back, and #885 overall. I bring him up for a couple reasons. First, he has pretty tantalizing speed with a 4.39 forty. Second, this is Mike Hart jumping into the state of Michigan to recruit. And third, Indiana has done a pretty good job of developing running backs in recent years. Holloman has an older brother (Joshuwa), who played at Cincinnati and then Eastern Michigan.

In other in-state news, Michigan State has landed a couple 3-star prospects (DE Tyson Watson from Warren Mott and Ethan Boyd from East Lansing).

And Davison quarterback Brendan Sullivan committed to Northwestern recently (3-star, #26 pro-style quarterback, #726 overall).

I'm not bringing this up as "Michigan is losing in-state recruiting battles!" but I just like to keep track of home-state guys we'll probably see on the field against Michigan in the next few years.

Does Sheridan also recruit the state of Michigan? That's a team i'll keep my eye on moving forward with Hart and Sheridan acting as Associate HC and OC.

Thanks Magnus?  Any thoughts on Sullivan?  NU is my other rooting interest, but totally understand if you haven't watched any film on him.

Magnus - I don't follow recruiting very closely other then posts on here and Touch The Banner.  Why's Holloman ranked so low?  A 4.4 forty is pretty damn fast.

a) I'm kind of amazed by the 4.39 forty time, because he doesn't play anywhere near that fast. I've seen 4.5 or 4.6 kids who have faster turnover.

b) His change of direction is very labored. He doesn't have that jump-cut lateral quickness you want to see. When he changes direction suddenly, he looks like he's about to fall down.

He truly seems like one of those guys who probably runs fast in a straight line without football pads weighing him down, but when you add pads and obstacles, he's just not that dangerous.

Said he ran a laser timed 4.33 at the opening... if he really is that fast you go after him and sign him instead of these guys running 4.6 ... This is speed in space we need

Mel Tucker has performed better than I expected on the recruiting front. He was way behind and inherited a tire fire.

Can we just hire Mike Hart already? WTF??

I’m not bringing this up for the reason of Michigan losing the in state recruiting battle but in 2-3 years if any of these guys are the real deal I will start a thread on how I told you so and we lost the in state recruiting battle and that’s why we can’t win the big one
