Submitted by Ham on December 8th, 2019 at 11:59 PM

No. 1 Slippery Rock (13-0) advanced to the semifinals of the Division II playoffs yesterday with a 65-59 win over Notre Dame (NTND). 17 total touchdowns were scored in the game. The Rock's quarterback, Harlon Hill Trophy finalist Roland Rivers III, threw for 436 yards and scored 8 touchdowns.

They will host No. 1 Minnesota State next week (12/4 at 12:30pm).

No. 1 Ferris State beat Northwest Missouri State easily and will play West Florida, who upset the top 2 seeds in their region, at home after Slippery Rock's game.

If Slippery Rock wins, they'll play the following week for the Division II title in McKinney, Texas. Go The Rock!

Might be fun to watch - defense vs offense.  In most of CFB today, the offenses have far more scoring power than the defenses have score stopping power.  It used to be that scoring 24-28 would be enough to assure a very close game, if not a win.  Those days are behind us...  If you can't score in the mid-30's against anyone, you're not going to win.  Scoring that much doesn't promise you a win, but it keeps you in the game.

Can Ferris score in the mid-30's against Slippery Rock?  If they can't, I don't care how good their defense is.

Use to cheer when they simply announced the Slippery Rock scores.  Now in recent years they show the score and also announce it.  The problem with the video scoreboard posting the score is they use the logo which is a Green S.  Since then I stop cheering for their score.  They need to remove the green s logo and just put Slippery Rock name. As a graduate of Ferris State my heart is definitely with them in their playoffs.  Go Bulldogs.

Minnesota State appears to be ready to get over the hump, and my guess is that they'll beat Slippery Rock with some ease. D-2 is always tough to predict, though.

Ferris gets a real break with West Florida wiping out the high seeds in its region, but of course that might mean that West Florida is a problem. Still, I would guess we'll see a Ferris-Mankato final. Good job by Slippery Rock winning its region, though.

They are paying their players. Their players take on line classes. How can Michigan compete with cheaters ?
