From the Article:

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey issued a call to action Thursday evening regarding the state flag of Mississippi.

"It is past time for change to be made to the flag of the State of Mississippi," Sankey said in a statement. "Our students deserve an opportunity to learn and compete in environments that are inclusive and welcoming to all.

While skankey is doing the right thing, how about asking him satellite camps again, seriously, as it gives more exposure to young African American youth to more colleges.

That’s not going to happen. Satellite camps are a competitive disadvantage for the SEC. The confederate symbol issue doesn’t really affect the competitive nature of the sport at all. Now if the SEC banned ole miss and miss st from the SEC, or refused to show those teams on air until the flag was changed that would be something.

Should add that the SEC is threatening to not hold SEC championship events in Mississippi until the flag is changed (similar to what NCAA did with NC over bathroom laws).

Not sure what type of incentive this is. The major revenue generating sports don't seem to be in play for Mississippi anyways - Football historically held in Atlanta and Basketball mostly in Nashville (never held in MS)

Would a province in Germany accept a swastika on a portion of their flag?

I'm guessing that they wouldn't.

Change the fucking flag, make it a big smokey mountain of brisket with a BBQ sauce background

That's a delicious flag

Oh man come on. I hate this. You have got to be kidding me. Is nothing sacred anymore? I can’t agree with and approve of Greg Sankey on something. Screw you, 2020, you weird f@$ked up year

Who said this?

"Our students deserve an opportunity to learn and compete in environments that are inclusive and welcoming to all."

The SEC Commissioner? Whoa. If you're the sort of person who enjoys watching videos where someone "owns the libs" that must be hard to digest.

They (SEC) must feel that they're playing the long game here. Time will tell if they're correct. In the short term they're surely angering a big chunk of SEC fans.

Had to google what the Mississippi state flag looked like.

Results: Yea, good call by the SEC!

With difficulty, I applaud the SEC. We all know what state is meant by, "Worst State Ever," but the worst state, by a number of measures, is actually Mississippi.

“William T. Thompson, the designer of the Confederate flag, said, "As a people we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race" and "As a national emblem, it is significant of our higher cause, the cause of the superior race."

Fuck confederate flags and anyone who thinks it’s OK
