More likely to be able to get 2 NHL ready players in the 2018 draft than get 1 in the 2017 draft.
Kenny will trade this pick, for a 3rd liner and then sign said 3rd liner to a 6year $4.5mil a year cap hit who gets scratched for 72 games.
And then tell us the #4 pick was at least 9 years away from contributing.
But the way Holland has drafted, he's probably right. Whoever Holland would have drafted probably would be 9 years from contributing.

.......but I like to say that luck is the intersection of preparation and opportunity. Things just haven't been working out for the Wings recently. They seem to have lost their touch in uncovering late round gems like Lidstrom, Konstantinov, Datsuk, Zetterberg, etc. I guess Hakan Andersson isn't the only guy crawling around remote hockey rinks in Europe any more. Was really hoping they could get a top 3 pick to start bringing some elite talent back into their system. Have to laugh at Colorado though - after that tank job, they fell to the 4th pick.
K-Bomb, Pavel, and Henrik in the late rounds kind of constitutes using up all the luck, no? I do agree though. Fire Kenny, I'll take over as GM. I may not be the best hockey mind, but I'll literally trade all of our good players for draft picks and begin an epic tank, Oilers/Blackhawks style.

Just don't do an epic tank, 76ers style. See, that's the problem with epic tanks - they don't always (or usually) work, and then you just have a shitty team.
which have some of the best young talent, and plenty of draft choices? Their future would be between 100-200% brighter if they just drafted Porzingis instead of Okafor. The plan works, they just had no luck

Extremely weak draft compared to the last few years' standards and we get screwed with the 9th pick because we won some meaningless games in the last month of the season. Fuck.
Whoever we pick will most likely not make the roster from day 1. They'll presumably need some time.
According to this chart, it looks like the 9th pick historically has about a 55-60% probability of playing 200 games in the NHL and a 65-70% probability of playing 100 NHL games.
