OT: Okey doke, I've had enough.

I'm convinced the NHL is giving orders to benefit the god damn penguins any way possible. Edit: two highsticks later, I may be wrong. Edit Edit: I'm pretty steemed right now. We had the game, and blew it. God Damn it Dan Cleary, God Damn it Hoss. Hopefully, they play well enough to win the stanley cup thursday.

...you're not. The penguins got away with murder out there tonight. Though the wings didn't look like they wanted it as much as the pens until the 3rd despite that, so good for them I guess. We'll see how game 7 goes.

home team win and the Wings can celebrate at home with THEIR fans. Also, just think of the boost of bar sales to have a game 7 in Detroit.

Dont resign Hossa, please. The wings dont need a 40 goal scorer for the regular season. They need a 10 goal scorer for the playoffs, he has been a huge disapointment when we need him most.

I thought it was a great game. I liked the fact that the Wings won Game 5, but that game was over in less than 40 minutes. It was a chore to watch the third period. This one was just awesome from start to finish. Osgood stood on his head tonight and did everything that could be asked of him and more; the two goals against were poorly defended. Staal also made a good move at center ice on the Pens' first goal. I thought the real story was Scuderi et al. Fleury did his job, sure, but Pittsburgh held Detroit to one goal on the strength of their defense. The Pens backcheck and overall physicality simply shut the Wings down; Hank had a pretty good first period but disappeared later in the game, while Hossa played like ass throughout. Helm was out of position a few times as well. Malkin had a tremendous third period. I noticed Crosby didn't log a ton of ice time tonight, but I couldn't say why. But I'd have to say Scuderi gets my first star, both for his last 30 seconds and as a representative of the Pittsburgh defensive effort.

The first two periods, it seemed to me that it was less that the Wings weren't playing well (because, frankly I thought they were), it was that the Pens were playing OUT OF THEIR FUCKING MINDS. I haven't seen puck pursuit like that since, well, Detroit last year. I thought that Pittsburgh deserved to win tonight regardless of any failings of any referees. Game 7 should be awesome.

Totally agree. Malkin played his best defensive game of the series, and I thought it showed. Detroit needs him to return to form in Detroit. Hopefully in Detroit the Wings can use the matchup to get more shots on net when Orpik and Scuderi aren't in the game to block the shots.

I guess we saw two different games because for the first period and a half the Wings looked slower and less decisive than I've seen them in the playoffs yet. I can't believe how many times I saw guys giving up on pucks that were a few feet away from them because they thought their teammates were going to get it. I don't know.. maybe it was the rapid line changes, but it looked like there was too much thinking and not enough instinct on the part of the Wings. Pittsburgh at home has pretty much been a constant and we outplayed them for huge portions of games 3 and 4. Significantly less for game 6. If Detroit plays with confidence and instinct (maybe redundant)Friday, then only crazy puck bounces can result in a Pens win. They're not deep enough to roll with the Wings.

They didn't call anything until the third, but they did call something. This game wasn't about the reffing; it was about the Wings' lack of effort for most of the game. I'll be surprised if that happens again on Friday.

Yeah not showing up for the first two periods was idiotic. Don't be so sure the cup is in the bag, because if the Wings come out like that again then they'll watch crybaby crosby hoist the cup at the Joe.

The wings had no continuity... way too quick of changes... I know we are trying to match lines but when we stopped trying to match their lines in the third and just started rolling lines we played much better.

What an entertaining game-- third period especially. That's edge of your seat stuff there, where legends are born. Cleary hits that breakaway, it's talked about for the next 20 years...
