OT: NCAA SB Tourney

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

This year shapes up to be the year of the upset in the 2012 NCAA Softball Tourney.

The biggest surprise came from the Gainesville Regional where Top Seed and #5 ranked Florida lost to Florida Gulf Coast 2-1.  Fla GC is a school of only 12,000 located Near Naples Fla and was established in 1991.  Florida has been ranked in the top 5 most of the year.  Maybe a little too much looking ahead?

In the Austin Regional, Top Seed and #6 ranked Texas lost to the only other Big Ten invitee, Northwestern 2-0.  Congrats Wildcats.  NWU can surprise a lot of people.

In the Knoxville Regional, top seeded and #7 ranked Tennessee was beaten by Miami (NTM) 1-0.  MAC Champions are sure to keep up the pressure.  They are a good team.

In the Los Angles Regional top seed and #11 ranked UCLA was given a beat-down by my upset special Hofstra 7-2.  This regional is going to be very interesting.  Hofstra gave us a run for the money on 25FEB.  We were lucky to scrape out a 3-2 victory.

My other upset special La- Lafayette top seeded and ranked #14 beat Mississippi Valley 8-0 in a mercy-rule win.  The Cajuns are expected to win their regional but I predict them to make a run in the W.S.

Nice update, when is Michigan's next game? Is it going to be on TV?

[Edit]  Michigan plays #15 ranked Louisville today at 3pm. Looks like it will be on ESPN3, if I read it right.

I dont think Louisville has been tested.  The Big East sux (although so does the B1G).  Valpo is coached by a great coach in Jordan Stevens.

I am hoping for a Valpo/Michigan finals.  I will have mixed emotions rooting against my good friend but he will get over it.  I will have to buy him a beer when he comes back to town though.
