BIZARRO
I think I'm going to go with Madden this year. NCAA looks like '11 with a couple improvements.
game experience for me is that the crowd actually looks somewhat real, the music is more in line with what the band actually plans situationally speaking, and the blocking engine doesn't act so much like a suction cup.
however the dreads flow better...
Are they even gonna be in the game?
How about custom tattoos?
i was planning on buying, but after watching that vid, no way...
it looks exactly like ncaa 11 (which i've played A LOT). seriously. so not worth 60 bucks for updated rosters, a few improvements to dynasty mode, and a slightly improved blocking system.
There's not that many changes they can make besides the rosters and slight gameplay improvements. Graphics are at a peak really, not much else they can do besides add animations (which they do every year) or go 3D. Definitely not worth $60 but no games are.
well, i also had ncaa 09, which i loved. there's a significant difference between 09 and 11. the graphics are better, lighting is improved, the gameplay is more fluid, and the addition of no huddle and clock rundown made the game much more realistic. there was also significant roster turnover between the two years. recruiting was also much improved (allowing for somewhat tangible results from making a phone call, etc).
the problem i have with 12 is that the gameplay looks EXACTLY the same. you could have showed me that video, without the dudes talking at all and no title, and i wouldve bet money that it was ncaa 11. now given the fact that the harsh, cold sports winter (i.e. summer, after nba and nhl playoffs end) is fast approaching, i might cave and buy the game because ill be bored as balls otherwise. but im still going to bitch about it. ill probably go to gamestop and try the game out if i can before i buy it. that, or i'll convince a friend (who hasn't updated since 09) to buy it first, and try it out there.
ps: fun fact about ncaa 09. take a look at florida's roster, namely the qbs. tim tebow is of course the starter, but do you know who his backup is? CAM FUCKING NEWTON.
09 was definitely the biggest jump in recent years. From what I've seen NCAA pretty much only gets what Madden had the year before. This year at least they have one unique thing (coaching carousel). I always end up buying the new version anyway, for the roster changes alone really.
I'm pumped for the coaching mode they have included.
Mainly because I always do and they do have a big improvement that I'm looking forward to - the coaching carousel mode in dynasty and online dynasty. That looks pretty interesting.
The coaching carousel first appeared in NCAA bball 07 or 08 and I'm super pumped it finally made it to football. Adds the most realism to the dynasty since they changed the recruiting system IMO
It might be silly but i miss the PS2 versions of the NCAA games. They had the coach animations on the sidelines where you could see him congratulate or chew out a player and argue with the refs. Plus, if you ran up the score, the opposinng coach with have attitude with you at the post-game handshake.
The PS2 version also included all the FCS(1-AA) squads. So you could take a team like Grambling or Portland State, add them to a BCS conference and turn them into a dynasty.
Auburn - Alabama because of SEC bias ;)
Anyway, before NCAA Basketball was discontinued by EA, they had a cool feature which allowed you to switch between CBS and ESPN / ABC broadcasts. I was hoping such a feature would be carried over to the Football series, but I don't think it's going to happen.
Would be pretty funny to hear Verne and Gary Danielson do NCAA football.
I hate both of these teams.
...needs to be changed. And I mean changed, not only in terms of content, but personnel. It's the same sleepy feeling I get when I played all the recent previous incarnations of the game, going all the way back to NCAA 2004. I dunno; this game just has always lacked a certain "energy" for me...it always feels & looks sluggish and lethargic.
