OT: MLB Trade Deadline

Submitted by DingleberryFinn. on

Might as well get this thing started today. Sounds like David Price could be traded within a few hours to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rumored deal is for: LHP Daniel Norris, LHP Matt Boyd and CF Anthony Alford

Sources: Heyman, Morosi, Rosenthal Twitter updates.

EDIT: Price for Norris, Boyd and LHP Jairo Labourt is official.

I think the Tigers positioned themselves very well, waiting until Hamels was traded before the "retooling" decision.

Should be very exciting.

Norris is one of the Blue Jays top prospects. Anthony Alford and Matt Boyd are also very good prospects in the blue jays system. This is about what the phillies got yesterday for hamels. This is a pretty decent deal for the jays if they get him. If Norris turns out what he is supposed to be than the the Tigers made a great deal. Blue Jays get price as a rental to see if they can get the wild card spot or catch the Yankees. I am an Orioles fan so we will see Price and Tulowitzki as the season goes on but I'm confident that the orioles do will battle it out with the blue jays for that wild card.

Norris would be a nice return, but would certainly hope for another arm in the deal, although we'll find out the return here in a few minutes.

Live from AA. Yes he hasn't pitched well in triple aaa nor the the big leagues. Sometimes guys need a change of scenery. He could possibly get help with his mechanics and become a good player for the Tigers. It will be curious to see what happens.

norris becomes an immediate middle of rotation guy; boyd a situationaly lefty out of the pen.  now trade cespede, soria, et al for prospects to rebuild the farm system.

nearly $60M in salary drops off the books in 2016, plenty of loot to get a front-end starter, closer and OF.

Dombrowski did well with the return for a rental. Norris has big time potential and Boyd likely becomes the Tigers 2nd best pitching prospect.

We'll see what he can get for Cespedes and Soria, but thus far he's done well with just this one trade.

Yeah, I like it. If I'm remembering correctly, Norris set a record last year for the best K:BB ratio ever or something like that. Kind of an odd-ball character, but very dedicated to the game from what I've heard. He'll be exciting to track.

This is a good trade.  Norris is a good prospect, and honestly I didn't think they'd get that much for a rental.  Hopefully they can move Cespedes for another young arm and be set up to compete for a couple more years.

I kinda wonder if Verlander had pitched well these past couple of weeks they would have moved him as well.  Probably not a huge return, but maybe one or two high-level prospects or another guy who might be overpaid.
