OT: MLB Fanmap by facebook likes

Being from the SE Michigan area and regularly traveling across the border into Toledo and the surrounding area I've always been amazed at how when it comes to college football it's always been a split between Michigan and Ohio State. People across the border tend to lean more towards Ohio State naturally. This map shows as such:

BUT, when it comes to baseball the Toledo and surrounding area definitely leans towards the Tigers. Even people that like Ohio State. I thought they weren't supposed to give a damn for the whole state of Michigan? That's why when I see someone with an Tigers D logo and OSU block O on their back window it just kinda makes my skin crawl.

You have clearly spent more time in Toledo than I, so I will defer to your experience, but I always thought Toledo was not as red as the rest of the state.

It's interesting that most of Canada goes for the Blue Jays.  Even as far away as Vancouver.  I like that only three non-Canadian teams have any pull anywhere in Canada and one is the Tigers.

Why the Oregon love in the middle of Minnesota?  And anyone surprised the Nebraska and Wisconsin are about the most consistently dominant teams, in their states?

...are the only two teams completely shut out. The fact that the A's aren't even the most popular team in Alameda County makes me sad. ~ A's fan

Pro sports loyalties aren't quite as strongly tied to state borders as college ones.  Toledo is closer to Detroit than Cleveland and also contains the Tigers' AAA affiliate, so it's not surprising to me that it's pro-Detroit.

I am surprised at how much the Rangers dominate Texas when the Astros are the older of the two franchises.
