OT: Michigan Policeman buys child car seat
Pretty cool story just down the road from Ann Arbor in Westland, MI. Instead of a ticket for no car seat, the officer bought the driver a car seat.
Maybe the best part is the officer didn't tell anybody he worked with that he did it.
No offense man, but is this really the place?
It's just down the road from Ann Arbor in Westland so there is a geographic link. I would not have posted the story if this happened in northern VA where I live now.
It's a great story.
I did mark it OT.
While this may be OT or even Waaaay OT, I am glad you posted this as this is truly a very heart-warming story. Keep in mind that these police officers don't make a ton of money and he paid for it out of his own pocket for a total stranger! Hope CNN picks this up. Nice RGard.
Your Honor.
It's not specifically stated, but I suspect it was a maize and blue nike jumpman car seat, making this simultaneously on topic and the thing WD is asking for this holiday season.
Is going to be a father? Congrats, WD!!! :-)

He would have to find a woman willing to have sex first.
I know, I know, there are other ways, but WD seems to nice to be a rapist.

IVF....just sayin'

Not hard to find a woman willing to have sex. The key is finding a woman willing to have sex WITH YOU.

If you're willing to lower your standards to "ham planet" types.
You don't have to have a kid to get a car seat.
You can't get those until August 1st, but my sources tell me that Adidas child seats are now 75% off at the MDen.
I saw this a while ago, but still a cool story.

This is more interesting than Kentucky's offering an 8th grader.

We're in the deadzone.
We have baseball and softball to talk about on the weekends.
That's it.
Wanna talk about the Champions League semi-final tie this PM? Athletico Madrid v. Bayern Munich?
That's a great story. Some people are amazing and they don't seek recognition to do the right thing.
If these stories got one 100th the press any of the shootings got perhaps the world would be a happier less hateful place.
This is a great story but it would take 1000s of good deeds like this to even come close to erasing the stain of a police sidewalk execution.

Hyperbole much?
April 27th, 2016 at 12:40 PM ^
Not at all. Its a simple calculation. 1 human life > 1000s of car seats.
Americans. 1.4 MILLION acts of violent crime, 10,000 killed by drunk drivers, 14,000 murdered, etc, etc.
It amazes me how people damn the cops whilst ignoring the much more numersou crimes of their fellow citizens. If the average person wasn't such an asshole we would not need cops. But they are and so we must have them.

I'm not against cops. I'm against cops who execute people without a trial.
Am i the only one pissed that the driver has tinted windows, but cant afford his 3 year old a car seat? I mean come on....
But I do applaud the officer.
Keep in mind that he MAY have bought the car used and it already had the tinted windows.
Which I agree, but hes obviously well aware he could get a ticket from them so if you're so down on your luck financially why keep the window tint that could lead to a ticket?
April 27th, 2016 at 11:10 AM ^
Because replacing the car is expensive?
You're assuming a lot. Maybe he bought a cheap used car that already had tinted windows. Maybe he had it done before his fortunes declined to the point where he couldn't afford a child seat.
I generally find it pretty obnoxious when people imply that poor people shouldn't have any luxuries until they're financially stable. Life isn't that simple.
Im simply saying hes obviously well aware he could receive a ticket for the tint and isnt doing well financially so why put yourself in that situation to receive a ticket..
But by all means generalize my comments into saying that all poor people should have luxuries.......
April 27th, 2016 at 10:41 AM ^
First, it's not necessarily that obvious. Some tint is allowed, and most people don't know exactly where the line is between acceptable tint and impermissible ting. Second, as I already mentioned, it's quite possible that he bought the car with the tint already on the windows and never thought about it.
I hope you're the only one that's pissed about the tinted windows. There's a good chance that any of the following happened:
- He doesn't own the car
- He bought the car used with tinted windows
- He tinted the windows before he was down on his luck
- Some other scenario where he didn't effectively say "screw my kid's safety - let's tint these windows"
From my perspective, the potential thing to be pissed about is that he did not have his kid in a car seat. Those are about the easiest thing to get from a Goodwill or St. Vinny's.
The bigger issue, from my vantage point, is that I don't know the father's full backstory, so I'm not prepared to judge him. Especially for the sin of having tinted windows.
However I am making the assumption that the drivers socioeconomic and educational background aren't extremely high, therefore it's understandable that he may have tinted the windows and purchased luxuries in lieu of a car seat.
Moral of the story is, the officer did a good thing as did the driver - who went out of his way to give him props and respect. Learning experience for all involved - do good things.
News at 11. In a related story, I held the door open for three people on my way into the office today.
No doubt all three were young, hot looking women. Amirite MH???

A few hundred people work here and there's maybe 5 or 6 pretty enough to fuck.
And two of them are guys.

is the same as a someone spending their own money on a complete stranger. Like totally the same, Val.
Is OT season on this blog. This just might become the dumbest OT season in the history of blogosphere

Checked this post to see if there was a pic of a big officer sitting in a little car seat.
This story is better.

can a cop really do that while on duty?
April 27th, 2016 at 10:42 AM ^
protect and serve. He did both in this case, protecting the child with a car seat and serving the public by helping out this man who needed it.
April 27th, 2016 at 10:46 AM ^
protect and serve lolol
April 27th, 2016 at 11:13 AM ^
I doubt that many cops care to protect lolol, let alone serve it.

that guy is trolling cops for free car seats and then selling them on the black market. It's not even a child. it's his dwarf accomplice.
