OT- Lions v. Colts **SPOILER ALERT**
The Lions are up 10-7 on the Colts in the 2nd quarter, and the offense actually looks... decent.
I know it's just the preseason. I know it doesn't matter, and that the Lions were Preseason Champions last year before going 0-16. But my teams finished last year with 3 wins in 28 games, so I'll take anything I can get.

at the game??? because its not going to be on TV until 8pm tonight.

And the game is on ABC local in Northern Indiana. So for once, it actually pays off to live in Colts country.
Perhaps I should add "spoiler alert" to the title.

would be nice for the people who are waiting to watch it tonight here in michigan. but if you are watching the little league world series or the HS football game on ESPN the score is being shown on the ticker.

it was on TV. It's some crappy channel and I have no idea where it came from. Fox I guess. Desmond Howard was commentating on it. I was also impressed by the offense, though. Pettigrew was looking pretty good, and so was Stafford. Smith was making some defenders look like school girls on a play or two.

I'm watching it online. Didn't really feel like waiting until later. Yes, its small. Oh well.

That's what she said.

It's on the NFL Network in Arizona, too.
One of the backup running backs just ran the wrong play, Stafford is pissed.

because he got sandwiched like... well, like a Lions quarterback.
Stafford may not be ready to be the starter, but lord he has a strong, accurate arm. He's made some big-time throws, especially that deep route to Megatron in the first half and the fly to Derrick Williams in the 3rd quarter.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:20 PM ^
can someone explain where the megatron nickname is from?
August 29th, 2009 at 5:36 PM ^
Roy Williams gave him the nickname "Megatron" during his (CJ's) rookie year. His suggestion was that the kid was basically a huge machine. It just stuck.
I think it was around the time that the first Transformers movie came out, but I could be wrong.

Foote looks really bad... He doesnt even look like he is trying to play hard or take on blockers... Apparently he has successfully been transgormed into a true Lions player
August 29th, 2009 at 3:39 PM ^
These Colt announcers are an abomination. Just terrible.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:20 PM ^
3-4 scheme to 4-3 scheme. Foote is not used to playing in space which explains why he seems to be a step slower than most MLB.
Rookie, DeAndre Levy has performed well in his new position at MLB. If he keeps playing like this this season and Foote continue to struggle, Foote may not get an another contract from the Lions.

It is called getting "Lionized."

it's playing in grand rapids...

looked really nice. I am excited how hard of a worker he is. Smith doesnt take a play off.
August 29th, 2009 at 4:04 PM ^
Smith looks like he could be the "every-down" back the Lions haven't had in a long time.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:35 PM ^
I am seeing a solid future for Smith. He has really progressed well into the NFL and he was a great pickup for the Lions. One of their few really good picks.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:41 PM ^
Besides CJ (who was a no brainer), he might be the only other good pick Millen made.
Considering he was a third round pick, it was probably the best pick Millen ever made.

In the regular season...

They'd still go 4 and 12.
They have good pieces, but they still are a long LONG way from being decent. I'd say let Culpepper start and take this year's licks and give Stafford a year to learn the ropes. But that probably won't happen.

i would have to agree with the 4 and 12 statement
