OT: Lions Sign RB's Jerome Harrison & Mike Bell
A day after losing Mikel Leshoure to a season-ending Achilles injury, the Lions signed Jerome Harrison and Mike Bell to fill the spot in the offensive backfield.
It's kind of funny because both players were traded for each other last year, and are joining forces this year.
I was really looking forward to seeing Leshoure be our bell cow this year, but Harrison is a solid RB and Bell isn't to shabby himself. Hopefully they can help get the Best out of our RB Corp.

Nice. I've always liked Bell.

the guy can run and is a poor man's Reggie Bush but he benefited heavily from the Payton offense. he's still a bit undersized and would be a backup to Best in the theory Best is not a between-the-tackles RB. if he hadn't made a money grab first chance he could, he'd likely still be on that roster.

is poor man's Reggie Bush. He's much bigger and is more of a short yardage back. Unless you're talking about Jerome Harrison in which case he never played for NO.

he got beaten up quickly trying to go hard. 6', 225 is small for a grinder. compare that to ingram, who is 5'9", 215. i wasn't saying they were the same size, i was saying that for full usage, he was utilized in that manner. that's why the Saints picked up Ingram while having a 5'11", 215 Pierre Thomas. he similarly could be utilized in a spread or swing out spot, as well as draws, but could not be relied upon to put his head down. that was what leshoure was drafted for as compared to Best.

make any sense because they already have 2 quality power backs in Thomas and Ivory. They still had Bush at the time. That is a crowded backfield. They just released Bush for a better back in Sproles. Now Chris Ivory may get cut because of number crunch but it's a shame because he's the best rookie back last season(yes better than Blount). Ivory ran for 716(152 carries) yards with 5.2 ypc despite not carrying the ball for 4 games which is impressive.

1 of these guys to get cut before the season starts...at least they didn't resign Kevin Smith

I hope Mike bell doesn't try to steal anyone's luggage like tatum bell did a couple years ago.

I just saw that they released Greg Banks today as well.

Best out of our RB corps... Oh wait a minute I see what you did there...

I think Harrison is going to be an OK rental, but I'm really looking forward to seeing who the camp cuts are this year. That's how Tampa Bay ended up with LaGarrette Blount.
Allen Bradford (USC) or John Clay would both be intriguing guys for this team.

Didn't Pit sign Clay?

Yes they did but he was assuming Clay will get cut. Jonathan Dwyer from Pittsburgh could be nice. He was a load at Georgia Tech.

I think Mike Bell's a good get and not past his ability to be able to do something. He's never been a great player but he's definitely been serviceable if he can live up to that it's a good get.

I feel like the guy has done well every time he's been given the load. I guess he's closer to Best in style?

I like these other 2 just fine, but, i'd like to see Johnson get a shot just for the story line. Who knows, there might be another cheerleader proposal in the works. :-)

Has Mike Hart been picked up by anyone?
