Per Dawgs247, super-senior WR Demetris Robertson has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

A five-star prospect, the No. 1 WR and the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia in the 2016 class, according to the 247Sports Composite, Robertson originally committed to Cal, spending two seasons with the Golden Bears, before transferring to Kirby Smart's program.

During his three years in Athens, he caught 42 passes for 443 yards (10.5 avg) and three touchdowns. Added 10 rushing attempts for 161 yards (16.1 avg) and a score.

What’s that you say? Two schools from which he would have to transfer credits in order to complete his degree? Even if he was interested, he’s not coming. If this kid suits up for the maize and blue I’ll eat a bunch of lemons.

Im sorry but 443 in three years is not impressive even as a third option.  Rather just have the young guys get development.

I thought 5 star guys flourished everywhere else. George Campbell, Demetris Robertson, Justin Shorter, Amon Ra St Brown, Tyler Vaughns, Joseph Lewis, Deon Cain, Tyron Johnson...these guys all failed to live up to their hype as 5 star WRs from 2015-2018. DPJ, on the other hand, was drafted and found a role in year 1 with Cleveland. I doubt that stops UM fans from arguing that the coaching staff fails to develop players despite the fact their players get drafted. Just think if more five stars came to UM—now that’s the issue. Some will be George Campbells and some will turn into Garrett Wilson’s/Jerry Jeudys.

I'm confused.. amon st ra was a much better player than dpj and was so underused as well.

Also he got drafted way higher than dpj

I’ve heard similar regarding DPJ. Not that it doesn’t seem like he’s allowing his talent speak for itself, which I’m glad to see. I’ve just heard that his lack of production at Michigan is not the singular reason that he dropped to the sixth.

Either way, I’m glad to see him doing his thing in Cleveland.

More info:

"Robertson, a 5-star receiver coming out of Savannah Christian High School, played in all 10 games last season and had 12 receptions for 110 yards.

The season before, in 2019, Robertson started in four games and played in 13 of the team’s 14. Robertson was third on the team in receiving with 30 catches for 333 yards

Robertson’s first season at Georgia was in 2018 after he transferred in from Cal. Robertson struggled to get on the field, playing in nine of 14 games and finishing with two runs for 95 yards. He did not catch a pass.

Robertson had earned Freshman All-American honors in 2016, second on the Golden Bears team with 50 catches for 767 yards and 7 touchdown catches. Robertson suffered an injury in 2017 at Cal and took a medical redshirt before transferring to Georgia."

It's reasonable to guess his lack of production at Georgia was at least partially the result of his injury.
