Now quickly watch it before Disney gets it off Youtube.
It hits you with the feels in a way that only Disney movies can do.

Dammit, who the hell is chopping onions in here?
February 27th, 2015 at 7:42 PM ^
but I will (almost) always prefer a good animated flick to a live-action movie.

to see Big Hero 6 and this played before that movie. Both movies won Oscars. The only two Oscar nominated movies my uncultured ass had seen.

As a microbiologist I'm certain we could culture your ass.

You get right on that.

We did this in Bio 173 my sophomore year.
February 28th, 2015 at 12:14 PM ^
Yes. We did this in Bio 173 as well. I work with a current 173 GSI and the swiping of the ass has been done away with. Apparently there was a complaint from a parent even though you had the option of swiping your cheek if you didn't feel comfortable.

At the State a couple of weeks ago. Awesome animation coupled with great storytelling can't be beat.

I really liked it every time I saw Big Hero 6 in theaters. Very deserving

It was 9:00 minutes long but they took out the hip diysplasia and having to put him down part. It was a little too traumatic for children.

I saw a short perhaps 30 years ago. The basic premise was that four stick figures were each in separate corners of a planar (planer?) square surface floating in space. In the center was a safe, or perhaps a pot of gold. When each tried to get to the safe, it affected the others. Not sure how else to explain it.... But if you have a link to it, it would make my day.

I think you might be referring to "Balance" a claymation that won Best Animated Short at the Oscars in 1989. I am certain it is on YouTube if you search it because I like it a lot and have seen it many times.

Holy shit. That is an amazing short animation.

My wife and I are huge fans of animation, but I don't remember ever seeing this one.
This is one reason why MGoBlog is what it is.

You are nothing short of a God to me....
I have been looking for that video for the past 30 years. Seriously.
When I first saw it, it was broadcast from UM-Flint.
Mesaline was involved.
Ha.

Anyone have the capability?

For the first three years of her life, my dog Olive was my little white shadow. Even though she was my "wife's" dog, she followed me from room to room every where I went. It used to drive my wife nuts, because she always ate scraps when I was done eating (I also have high body temp, which makes little lap dogs LOVE me). I Then, around a year ago she started following my wife around-- about two weeks before we found out that my wife was pregnant. Through her whole pregancy Olive was less dog and more my wife's personal body gaurd--so protective of my wife that even I was under suspicion.
Ever since we brought my son home (who is three months now) my dog has managed to get less sleep than me or my wife. E-V-E-RY time my son crys, my dog is there. Without fail, more than a couple of minutes of crying and Olive will try to gain access to him in order to make sure everythign is OK.
When my son got sick, Olive would go and make regular inspections of my son until his fever broke. When not performing nursing duties, my dog is sitting in a strategic location watching over the house, and every small noise requires a complete investigation. Safe to say that she is my son's dog now.
Is all of this an excuse why a grown-ass man teared up over a cartoon? Totally.

Olive sounds like my Black Lab, Midnight. While my wife was pregnant she would sleep on the couch, as it was more comfortable for her to lay on her side there rather than in bed, our lab would sleep right by her side. When we brought our son home she is his "best friend". She is always by his side and steals kisses whenever she can. My son also adores her. He could be in the crabbiest of moods and Midnight can put a smile on his face. I look forward to seeing the two of them grow up together and being best buds.

My elementary school art teacher used to show us this purely for the xlaymation of it, but a few years ago I found it again and realized that it is a masterpiece past the animation alone.
Edit: This is in reply to the "Balance" mini discussion.

So great you are on a message board at the same time.

Try it sometime....unless you can't do anything else but focus on your cartoons.

!. "It hits you with the feels in a way that only Disney movies can do."
No, it hits you in the feels in a way that only PIXAR movies do; and thankfully that skill hasn't been completely destroyed by the back-stabbing, soul-less, evil, money-whore that is Disney.
2. For those trying to download it off youtube, i use a program for my Mac called iTube Studio; it works great for clips on virtually any website. Not free, but worth it.
