OT: Former M commit Taylor Groves to Ole Miss
Former Michigan defensive back commit Taylor Groves committed to Ole Miss today. His primary recruiter? Former Michigan safeties coach Chris Partridge.
Also, I didn't find out about this until today, but class of 2022 kicker A.J. Vinatieri (son of Adam) visited Michigan today. According to Kornblue Kicking, he's the #12 kicker in the class. Michigan hasn't offered, and they had the #1 kicker (Will Bettridge) on campus last week. Additionally, the State of Michigan has 4 of the top 11 kickers in the nation in the 2022 and 2023 classes, so I'm not sure how much they will need to expand their board.
So in regards to Groves, that was just a plain
ole miss
Groves committed to The Grove
He made like a Grove of trees and he left.
Whenever I see the phrase “#1 kicker” I laugh.
Jason Hanson and his millions are laughing too
Kicker: the most thankless job in football.
You're a stud? Lol, you're just the kicker. You're not even a real football player.
You miss the GW field goal? You are literally the worst. You have ONE job. What the [expletive] is wrong with you?!
Team doesn't have a competent kicker? Jesus Christ, how can we not have a competent kicker?! Coaching staff SUCKS!
Whenever I see the phrase “#1 kicker”, I think of this video and then I laugh.
More on Groves's commitment here....
Instead of NIL, is that what's known as NI$C (Name, Image, $$$ and Chicks)?
NI$H&B
Every time that picture is posted I think of Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles..."Where the white women at?"
Qualifications?
Stampeding cattle.
That's not much of a crime.

"You are so talented, and they are so dumb."
Why is it Ole Miss rather than Ol’ Miss?
From wiki:
The nickname "Ole Miss" dates to 1897, when it was the winning entry of a contest held to solicit suggestions for a yearbook title. Interviewed by the student newspaper, The Mississippian, in 1939, Meek stated: "I had often heard old 'darkies' on Southern plantations address the lady in the 'big house' as 'Ole Miss'... the name appealed to me, so I suggested it to the committee and they adopted it."
You don't hear the term darkies much anymore.
I think for good reason too .
Thank the Black Power Movement. I do every day...
*Olé Miss
I will be interesting to watch his career from afar. I think he has a high ceiling.
At safety, yes, but we wanted him at WR.
This the first time I've heard this.
Groves is listed as a wide receiver on Rivals, but the Wolverines recruiting him strictly as a safety. With Groves out of the picture, Michigan has two commits in the secondary in five-star cornerback Will Johnson and four-star safety Kody Jones. Both are solid and will make official visits to U-M in June.
I didn't know that either. If we are still looking for another Safety, we do have crystal balls for D'Arco Perkins-McAllister which obviously is a better name.
I know everyone has their own opinions of schools, what they look for and all of that, but I just have trouble wrapping my head around turning down Michigan for the opportunity to play for Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss.
I know Michigan hasn’t had a ton of recent success, but When I think of Ole Miss football, I’m reminded of scandal and failure. Good luck.
"but When I think of Ole Miss football, I’m reminded of scandal and failure. Good luck."
That's funny, "scandal" and "failure" are now the first two words that come to mind with regard to Michigan football.
It breaks my heart that there is so much truth in this comment.
But how can we have scandal and failure when we had "Michigan Men" doing it the "Michigan Way"!!!??? Two phrases and ideologies based on fiction that have held our program back for the better part of 2 decades.
Just reading about this recruitment, I think the extra incentives are the biggest driver with this recruit. I dont think the school mattered.
100%. I have a rock solid source at UT that Quavarious Crouch left because he / his family couldn't get paid anymore. Furthermore, that the school he ended up at is paying him too. Surprise surprise.
Double post.
Taylor Groves is an excellent player. It was a loss when he de-committed. He could have been a corner or safety here. I like how he plays.
I hope this season surprises us with 9 or 10 wins. If we only achieve 6 or 7, recruiting will continue to sink!
