Crappy weather and crappy first two innings by EdRod but so good to see the start of the baseball season.  I'll be at Comerica on Sunday when it should be sunny and upper 50's with Tarik Skubal on the mound.

Hoping many of you saw the pregame ceremony and National Anthem---a touching tribute to Kimera Bartee followed by a stirring rendition of The Star Spangled Banner by Jack White.  I'm not afraid to admit it all made my eyes a bit moist.

So far the highlight of the day has been Jack White's color commentary.

I like our new bullpen and the lineup, but I'm not sure the starters aren't going to suck this year, Skubal aside.

Ok that was pretty sweet!

Almost looked like that ball hit the yellow line on the wall, regardless it hit the wall first so it wasn't an out, Tigers win!

It's one game, so let's slow down, but this game felt good and gritty. Similar to this year's Pistons team post all-star break. Could be a fun year if that clubhouse is at tight as it seems already.

👍🏼

No reason that they can't contend for a playoff berth. I predicted 86-76 a week ago despite the injuries to Riley Greene and a couple bullpen guys and maybe was a bit conservative in my prediction.

My reasoning is that this is a team that will have a much better start than the 9-24 they were they mid-May in 2021 before going something like 68-61 thru the remainder of the season.

The Tigers have improved everywhere up the middle, especially at SS with Javy Baez compared to the Willi Castro/shortstop-by-committee approach last season. At catcher, they've upgraded from Wilson Ramos/ Grayson Greiner/Jake Rogers early last season to Eric Haase/Tucker Barnhart now. Jonathan Scoop at 2nd is back at his proper position in place of the committee of various utility guys last April, and Riley Greene is a solid upgrade over banjo-hitting JaCoby Jones last year.

If they instead have just a mediocre start to 2022 of 17-16 thru 33 games, then close out the season going 69-60 this gives them 86-76.  I saw Jack White's prediction and he says 90 wins---that sounds entirely possible to me.
