OT - Crazy Day in the Euro 2020
It started with Spain's own (oops!) goal by their keeper, before hanging on to win. Then France is struggling and losing 1-0 in the second half when they explode for 2 goals from Benzema within 2 minutes, and then Pogba strikes an incredible shot in the upper 90 from outside the arc on the 18! The Swiss aren't done though as they've added another header to draw within a goal.
And they just tied.
Unreal.
Two goals down? We've got you right where we want you.
Because, as everyone knows, soccer is all about prolific scoring.
You beat me to it, just as I hit save the Swiss tie the game! Could be the second game that goes to extra time.
HITS THE POST
This game is UNREAL
Those Slavs are tearing it up for Switzerland!
This is exactly why I never want to return to an office.
In the office right now, still watching *devil emoji*
Very underrated comment!
I've always watch France and think they are just a collection of all-world stars that don't actually play well as a team, so today doesn't surprise me.
But then again, they won a World Cup by getting outplayed by Croatia, but having superior individual talent, so what do I know?
They were pretty outplayed today too, outside of 15 minutes or so. Their talent is just incredible though
I'm so glad I was able to watch both of these games today!
So much chaos and a lot of time in both games with the handbrake off for both teams has made these two great watches today
Add PK's to the craziness! France was lucky to get through extra time.
Au revoir, cheese-eating surrender monkeys!
Switzerland-France was one of the best matches I've ever seen. Wow
Switzerland was the better team for much of the match which is an AWFUL look for this France national team.
The French press should ask Didier Deschamp some VERY pointed questions and not allow him to fall back on his 2018 World Cup victory. This team was STACKED with an absurd talent level. Not getting to the semifinals with this team is a major failure on his resume.
They definitely "Pooh Poohed" the bed in this game! Their team has tons of talent up top and in the mid, but their defense in the second half was terrible. That back line is definitely a weakness.
I can think of a B1G CFB team that resembles this remark . . .
Yeah, it really is amazing how o$u has managed to produce so few national titles with their Bama/Clemson level talent.
France's midfield/attack is all-world, but its back line was in shambles. Hernandez and Digne were both injured, Pavard may have been playing with a concussion and Kimpembe just isn't that good.
Down goes France!
Both games were thrillers straight through--WOW.
Bummer to see France out of Euro, as they are for me the most fun team to watch in the tournament in terms of raw talent, skills, breakout passing, and explosive finishing. But it's a team sport, and the Swiss simply did a better job of preparation. When it got to penalties, I knew France was toast...I was hopting Lloris could pull another rabbit out of his hat like he did when he stopped the penalty earlier in the game.... but I'm a Spurs fan, so it made perfect sense when he whiffed on all five Swiss penalty shots.
Also a Spurs fan and I think, while Lloris isn’t always the great wall of China in goal, he was beaten by 5 excellent penalties. And stopping the one in regulation should have been enough. The French outfield players choked this away. There was really only one bad penalty taken out of the 10 and it was blocked. Fitting end.
As a Spain fan, it was a fun game. Not really expecting anything out of this bunch, but fun to watch the next generation come up.
I think you've undersold how crazy of a day it really was. After that own goal, Spain goes up 3-1 and Croatia ties it up 3-3 in added time, to send the match into extra time, only to reverse and win 5-3. There were 5 ties or lead changes in that game, insanity.
I’m sure the Jamaican Bobsled Team was happy about that France-Switzerland game.
Both games today were absolutely extraordinary. Fantastic sports drama.
Pogba's goal was a ridiculous wonder strike.
Glad the Swiss won though as they were the better team for the majority of the game.
Sad for my two French friends. (The only Swiss I know is chocolate.)
What about cheese, and for the seasoned blog members, Swatch?
Yer rite! I'm awash in swatch, and cheesy about the cheese. As that's 3 things, it outweighs 2 French friends, so now I'm a Swiss fan—and not at all a fairweather friend.
Yesterday's matches were unreal..... let'shope today's are equally entertaining. My work peers in the UK and Germany are going nuts. Personally, I like the Three Lions today
