To change the tune a bit:

If Kelly left simply because he wanted the opportunity to coach in the NFL, does Oregon hire Rich Rodriguez?

While there would obviously be some baggage with his failures here and the fact that his defense got lit up last year (although they did improve on the year before and their talent level isn't even close to an Oregon level), wouldn't he be the guy that could walk in and pretty much keep things running on the same level? He proved last year he can run a passing spread just fine with Scott, as Arizona really only had two games where they were stopped (Oregon and UCLA) and he's already out there.

Perhaps his three year stretch here would prevent him from getting a look at a top job this soon, but it would seem to be a good fit.

Hold on...we're still talking about the same guy, right?  Coaches generally pick up "better" jobs after great success, which Rich hasn't experienced since the Big East.  No AD is looking around and thinking, "Who burned his bridges at 2 of his last 3 jobs, finished last season around .500 and gives up about 78 points per game?"

Like I said: You aren't intelligent enough to begin to comprehend the thinking, so why even try?

Rodriguez would be a seamless transition on the offensive side of the ball.

On the defensive side of the ball, for the first time since Michigan 2008, he'd actually have a high caliber of personnel - and please, continue to pretend that Casteel didn't have a good defense over and over again at WVU - only with the offensive firepower to back it up.

He just demonstrated his offensive prowess in the same conference with a bunch of 2 and 3 star recruits.

And, he'd be a much better fit at Oregon, which would embrace him, than he was at Michigan, where people disliked him or didn't trust him from the beginning.

Thanks for the kind words.  I'd like to think I'm fairly intelligent, but good folk like you are there to keep my ego in check.  Of course, you say I'm too stupid to even try to explain...and then you "explain".  I do love you so.

As a lil reality check...Arizona's D (with Casteel and your boy) was 118th in the country last year.  That's out of 120.  Impressive!  I think the Steelers might want to hire him if Oregon passes.

This will be interesting.  Kelly knows that he has a lot of eyes on him and his spread offense, and how it may or may not translate to the NFL.  I'm excited to see if it will work.  Not sure how the fans in Philly will react, but it'll give them plenty to talk about in the offseason and training camp.

Good luck to Kelly's successor.  He'll have plenty of talent to work with.  I don't think they will drop off a whole lot, if at all.

He'll modify it to work. He's going to need better players, so he better show he can draft, because you can't pay anyone to recruit for you.
