OT - Chase Winovich Traded to Browns

Submitted by WFNY_DP on March 15th, 2022 at 9:54 AM

As a Browns/UM fan, this makes me happy because I always loved Chase!

However, as a Browns fan who knows what a dysfunctional shit-show the Browns always are, this makes me sad for Chase just a little bit.

Looking forward to getting to pull for him again, and given the Browns’ current lack of any pass rushing depth, hopefully he gets a chance to get his career going again.

If the Browns can find him a role or position that gets meaningful snaps, he should do well. He had double digit sacks with the Pats over his first 2 seasons as a purely situational player that got like 30% of the snaps or something.

Good for Chase. I hope a fresh start gets him out of whatever injury bug/non-rotation bugaboo he spent the last year and a half in. He's still young, plays with a lot of heart, so here's to a change of scenery and playing opposite man-mountain Myles Garrett opening things up for him.

I think some people put "OT" on any post so as to avoid the Board Topic Oversight Committee. If you don't put OT on there and they think it's OT, then they will comment incessantly about what is and what is not OT.  They're serious people and should be taken seriously.

It does.  Now I can add a 50 Browns jersey to my current 22 (Peppers) and 11 (DPJ) collection.

Although in the "timing is everything" department the news of his arrival is being just slightly overshadowed by the trip Stefanski, Berry and the Haslams are making to Houston this afternoon to talk to Watson.

I ultimately don't think he's coming here, but at this point they better get him.  This will torch next season and leave the locker room in tatters if they don't.  I'm guessing they released Tretter to make room to take his contract on.  Callahan must have already told them that Nick Harris can start.

I tried to convince myself otherwise, but i think it's obvious now that Berry never wanted Baker.  Otherwise he would have paid him after beating the Steelers in the playoffs and almost beating the Chiefs.

I guess this means Clowney is not coming back and they're not going after Chandler Jones.

Good for Chase. Playing opposite Garrett will do wonders for your career.

Winovich had a couple things going against him in 2021. First, he had a bad hamstring which limited him in practice. On the Pats, that's huge because their schemes can differ greatly from week to week. He reportedly had trouble setting an edge (sound familiar?) and staying in play on runs.

Hopefully a new system does the trick.

Not worth another thread, but Lions signing DJ Chark to a low risk 1 year prove it deal seems like a smart move.  It seems like the Lions have been making solid moves and that's a really weird feeling.

So a little off-topic, but now with JAX signing one of their tackles rumor has it they will go with Hutch at 1 instead of one of the OTs.  That would SUCK

How much money has he made in the league to date?  I don’t know the answer but I’m guessing he’s probably better off financially than most men his age. That said, I hope he is able to jump start his career in Cleveland.
