I spent three months wondering if the Tigers would have won their first Division since '84 if he wouldn't have gone boozing the last weekend of the season. Look, I get that its not all his fault. Its great he got help and I hope he can stay sober. But, this one is kinda tough to forgive and forget. Especially since you never know when a baseball team will have such a good shot at a division. (I concede that they had no chance of beating NY.)

The Tigers started Figaro in the second to last game of the season. True...Cabrera was hanging over as much as we were on a Sunday morning after an extended stay in our favorite watering hole after a football game in A2, but other factors came into play. I hope he keeps his AA attendance up during the season when he can.

I wonder about this. I don't really know how AA works, but could he drop into meetings in cities he is visiting? Is that feasible? Can we take for granted that the organization is going to help him in his effort to remain sober or is he on his own once they hit the road?

The point of this thread was to look to the future and be happy, not to blame Cabrera for last season's end With 162 games in a season, you can not blame one person when two teams end up tied. If Seay didn't make that one bad pitch in April, just Inge got one base that one time in May, is Leyland would have stuck with the starter one more inning in June.......the Tigers would have won the division. Statically speaking, the Tigers and Twins were nearly perfectly even teams. Hell, even the 163rd game went well past 9 innings. To give more blame to one player it just grossly unfair, no matter the anecdotal events of the last week of the season. With that said, I bet Cabrera ends up in the top three in league MVP voting this upcoming season. Be ready for the MONSTER season.
