OT: Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon, out for the season

Submitted by Wendyk5 on September 12th, 2023 at 3:07 PM

I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. I know injuries happen in football but this one is just so fluky -- season ending, maybe career ending, after a huge move to another team after years and years with the same team. I'm not superstitious and I don't believe in the hand of some higher power getting involved in stuff like this but....a bunch of things had to go wrong for this to happen and they did.

Listen, I don't like to see the vast majority of athletes get injured, and feel free to downvote me, but fuck Aaron Rodgers and fuck his Achilles! Couldn't have happened to less likeable QB (except maybe Kork Coupons).

Rodgers was already at the very end of his career. He just didn't know it yet. He'd been fading for 2-3 seasons, to the point that the Packers replaced him with a totally unproven young guy. Now he gets $73 million for 75 seconds of work -- after spending a year peddling dangerous misinformation. He'll be fine in a few months. He wasn't going to win the Jets a title. In the world of tragedies, this is not one.

I was looking forward to seeing what he can do with the Jets.

Past examples of HOF QB’s changing teams at the end of their career:

Brady won a superbowl

Montana went to the Chiefs, was injured in the middle of the first season, but did pretty well making the playoffs for two years

Favre transferred to the Jets and did well but got injured toward the end of the season. Then he did great his first year at Minnesota.

I don’t follow the news but there are a bunch of comments about people saying Rodgers “spewed dangerous misinformation” and I can’t find anything on the internet that can back this up.

granted I’m not looking very hard. he may have said the vaccine will give you an anal prolapse, but I’d think that would be easily findable

If you google "Aaron Rodgers misinformation" you get articles like this one that talk about all of the misinformation he spewed about COVID 19.  Took me 2 seconds.  It was easily findable. It was also a major news story at the time so most news watchers/readers are aware of it.  Maybe leave "anal prolapse" out of your searches and you'll get better results.

I'm not going to celebrate this injury. But I am going to LOL at the rest of the Jets organization. The way the holdovers from last year openly cheered on social media, while Zach Wilson is still on the team, I thought was kinda trash. And the fact that they brought a washed up Randall Cobb over to make Rodgers happy, makes me chuckle. As a Lions fan, this feels like something that would normally happen to us.

I dare you to watch 'Quarterback' and then think poorly of Kirk Cousins. I've ridiculed him for being a sparty and a viqueen, but he is a genuinely good man, and actually makes Mahomes appear to be a bit of a tool. Don't get me wrong, I have Mahomes on my fantasy team because he is a better football player, but Cousins is simply a better man.

Cousins is by far NOT the better man and neither is his immediate family. That show accomplished exactly what it set out to do with you and a lot of other people. The Cousins family is your typical west sider. Oh and his wife is one of the biggest POS of all time. They love to hide behind their ACT.

“I take off Tuesdays to be with my family” lol trying to justify your random day off while you continue to suck when it matters.

Ahh I’m real broken hearted for the guy

will he let Joe Rogan do the surgery since he’s a medical expert or you know use someone with actual expertise

I see you’ve never heard his podcast.

a) he calls out a ton of bullshit and challenges almost everyone who comes on to prove it.

b) he’s in the entertainment business. it’s not his job to filter out alternative ideas. its your job to process facts and figure out what you believe to be true.

this is like being mad that the WWE isn’t real wrestling and isn’t “using their platform to better mankind”

a) Please point me to the proof that Robert Kennedy provided that vaccines cause any of issues he said they did. And show me the quotes of Joe Rogan pushing back on his claims.

b) Hence why I don't listen to him. I've done my job and I filtered out the bullshit, leaving nothing of his to listen to.

Your analogy makes no sense because you started this convo by defending Rogan. So in this situation, you're the one defending the WWE as an educational product. To which I am saying, if you try to learn anything from WWE you are gullible idiot.

You're seriously this broken? You don't agree with a guy's politics or health decisions, sure, but to just willfully ignore common fact?  There are several things that have both human and animal uses.

"It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines,[14][15] and is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an antiparasitic agent.[16]
