OSU: Richest school in the country!
Got this choice quote from a Rivals piece on 2011 basketball recruit Brandan Kearney:
"I really liked Ohio State," said Kearney. "And that means a lot coming from a Michigan guy like me. I liked how hard the team worked, and the campus is really nice. They told me that Ohio State is the richest school in the country."
I wonder if that's in a brochure somewhere.

What a joke. Their endowment is no where close to Harvard's. Their students aren't the richest either.
he meant they pay their players the most $$$
Maybe "richest" refers to their athletic budget. I think it's supposed to be the biggest in the country. I highly doubt they meant their endowment, which is unremarkable.
whoever said that meant revenue, athletic department spending or both. they're rich like a guy drives an H2 but still does his laundry at a laundromat.
UM = 7.5+Billion
OSU = 2 Billion
OSU academically is a joke, including their "alumni" network. Who wants a job at walmart?
I was walking through the county fair back home last summer and a guy wearing an OSU shirt called me out for my M hat. He then proceeded to proudly tout his Buckeye BA. To which I replied, "is that why you are working the shooting range at the fair?"
"What did the Ohio State grad say to the UM grad?"
"Welcome to McDonalds."
I know it's old, but I like it.
I didn't realize truck drivers do that well financially!
No, but you make a lot of money as a criminal if you're successful.
And also largest amount of debt.
I thought they were with us as one of the few schools to not operate their athletic department in the red. You'd think it wouldn't be hard with the amount their athletic department brings in which is certainly more than Michigan right now.
how many unfunny O$U HAHA cracks we can fit in one post.
LOL FUCKING BUCKEYES DON'T GOT SHIT ON OUR ENDOWMENT. WE'RE SO WELL ENDOWED WE MAKE MORE MONEY THEN THEM WHEN WE'RE FLACID!
FUCKING TRUCKERSSSSS!!! BWAHAHAHA
do not equal "rich", profit does.
AD operating budget b/c they run 33-35 varsity intercollegiate sports (M has 25, IIRC). but last i read, they run a surplus of like 3% (rev 103M, costs 100M) while M has like a 17% surplus annually (rev 85M, costs 72M).
these numbers are based on memory and are probably accurate to within 10% at best.
Really nice campus?
I read that often from players visiting OSU and it always baffles me. I have been to the OSU campus several times and I have alwasys found it rather unappealing personally.
Diff'rent strokes...I guess.
