OSU Football and Basketball WIFI Upgrades not Approved
OSU was planning on adding WIFI coverage for both football and basketball but the projects were not approved. Cost would have been 9.5M or about 1.5 years of Urban Meyer's salary:
Two proposed projects aimed at improving Ohio State University’s sports infrastructure – including adding Wi-Fi at Ohio Stadium and the Schottenstein Center – are on hold after trustees expressed frustration about them during an unusually tense meeting Thursday morning.
Ohio State's football and basketball venues were slated to get Wi-Fi systems next year to improve the fan experience, at a cost of $9.5 million, according to a proposal by the athletic department.
Wow, that is surprising. Meanwhile we plan our next trip across the world for 100+ people.
I guess they'll have to stick with C.B. radio.
That's a big 10-4 good buddy, and you got smokey coming up in 4 clicks...
Did somebody mention 74,000 truck drivers?
This comment is underrated. +1
That's OK. Most OSU fans believe that "WIFI" is really just a government plot to infiltrate their brains and steal their secrets (during the brief moments the tinfoil helmets fall off), thereby making the UN's conquest of America via Chinese special ops troops in black helicopters just that much easier. I did hear that they approved free bottled water, which as we all know is free from mind-altering fluoride...
....infiltrate their brains....what brains???
Tinfoil hats, eh? To be fair, I feel like the only fanbase who earnestly believes there's a B1G conspiracy against them is yours.
others prefer communication using smoke signals. Or perhaps they send messages to each other by tattooing them on someone. To each his own.....
There's messages in entrails left in coolers, which I hear is a thing in some parts of Ohio.
Not naive here. I know why someone would want wifi service at a football game. What I don't know is WHY WOULD SOMEONE WANT WIFI SERVICE AT A FOOTBALL GAME!!! Observe the world people.
Until that is fixed, at every 5 minute commercial interruption (thanks ESPN), I'll try to use my phone to access said scores. Not that I'm ever successful.
Ohio Stadium?
The company that bid that job haz a sad.
"It's internet that brings internet through the sky, and the kids will show up on time. Aim the money cannon."
...but will their board of trustees approve their fireworks???
/asking for a friend
I'd gladly give up wi-fi at the game to see a victory againts o$u. I'm there to watch the game, not play on my phone.
