Open Thread: Michigan Baseball vs OSU (Big Ten Tournament)

Submitted by lilwolve4 on

Michigan vs OSU tonight starting at 10pm EST on BTN.

The team has been in a bit of a skid recently. Hopefully they'll turn it around for the postseason.

Let's Go Blue!

Eh, that's a pretty lame excuse for a downturn in the batting. You could also argue that it's hard to pitch well when your offense has lackluster production.

Now, I agree our pitching is definitely worse than our batting/a bigger problem. But it's far from the only problem. The one game we've managed to win in the last few weeks was a 1-0 decision/was because of our pitching.

This has just been a bad year against them.

We clocked them in everything in 2011-12. And I mean everything. Just one of those years where it seems like things snowball.

This is because the "big 3" sports had pretty bad showings against them. Football is understandable because it was year 1 under a new coach and the DL was injured big time and was out of gas.

MBB we lost our NBA first rounder, AGAIN to injury.

Hockey just underachieves every year like usual.

Enough already. I'm usually a supporter of yours, but you obviously have no real baseball experience if you don't believe mental toughness contributes to holding a lead. That is ignorant. I coach high school baseball, and my team went 0-10(!) in 1-run games this season. I attribute much of that to a lack of mental toughness and a desire to win at all costs. We weren't a bad team, and neither is Michigan, but TOUGH teams find ways to win/hold on.

That Michigan arrogance has spewed similar slights far too often-its not very original. Do you guys just rotate which fast food chain to mention?

It humors me that you post more than anyone else on this site, yet everyone mocks you.

had Michigan as their last 4 in before the tourney. This Loss and the way they self destructed the last 3 weeks have probably Knocked them out of the tourney..They would probably have to win 2 or 3 games now to get in UNLIKELY...Prob the most disappointing Michigan team this season

We can't beat OSU in literally any of the Big four sports...jesus christ can someone tell everyone on each it's a rivalry? Cuz it sure doesn't look like it.

Baseball has is not a major sport here or anywhere else in the Midwest for colleges other than Nebraska.

#4 is Softball and Hockey is clinging onto #3 while it still can. Softball has had more sellouts this year than both MBB and Hockey COMBINED.

Just because michigan cares about a sport doesn't mean the rest of the country does.  The sports the country as a whole cares about goes football, basketball, baseball, hockey.  Nobody cares beyond that and we got smoked this year.

Are you serious?  SEC stadiums average like 6 or 7k seats and have student sections.  Over the course of the college world series there are over 300,000 paid tickets with an average attendance over 20k per game.

For comparison last year the womens college world series set an all time record with total attendance of 78,078.  The michigan vs florida game was the 4th highest total of a deciding game with a little over 7,500.  The sports aren't remotely close in popularity. Just because the midwest doesn't care doesn't make it not a thing
