Open Thread: Michigan Baseball vs OSU (Big Ten Tournament)
Michigan vs OSU tonight starting at 10pm EST on BTN.
The team has been in a bit of a skid recently. Hopefully they'll turn it around for the postseason.
Let's Go Blue!
Agreed, but it's not like our offense has been good either.
We only averaged just over 2 runs per game against OSU in the first three game series, and I'm not super confident we'll surpass that tonight.
It's hard to come out and score a bunch of runs when your pitchers keep letting you down every single game.
Eh, that's a pretty lame excuse for a downturn in the batting. You could also argue that it's hard to pitch well when your offense has lackluster production.
Now, I agree our pitching is definitely worse than our batting/a bigger problem. But it's far from the only problem. The one game we've managed to win in the last few weeks was a 1-0 decision/was because of our pitching.
We aren't going to score 7-8 runs a game. It just doesn't happen in baseball.
That's what we'd need to keep our heads above water with this terrible pitching.
It's not about scoring 7-8 runs a game, it's about scoring 4-5.
Good teams can do that.
Well, the weekly 1.5 inning lead was fun.
you needed to take him out earlier

This has just been a bad year against them.
We clocked them in everything in 2011-12. And I mean everything. Just one of those years where it seems like things snowball.
This is because the "big 3" sports had pretty bad showings against them. Football is understandable because it was year 1 under a new coach and the DL was injured big time and was out of gas.
MBB we lost our NBA first rounder, AGAIN to injury.
Hockey just underachieves every year like usual.

Plus Swimming, Gymnastics, Track, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Wrestling.
They've got us in football, hockey, basketball, baseball and tennis though.

Again, thi must be another intelligent MgoThread that guys like me "sully" according to King Douche LSA(Whatever year he pretends to have grdaduated from Michigan)
What does being soft have to do with bad pitching or lackluster bats?
Enough already. I'm usually a supporter of yours, but you obviously have no real baseball experience if you don't believe mental toughness contributes to holding a lead. That is ignorant. I coach high school baseball, and my team went 0-10(!) in 1-run games this season. I attribute much of that to a lack of mental toughness and a desire to win at all costs. We weren't a bad team, and neither is Michigan, but TOUGH teams find ways to win/hold on.

We won the B1G Tournament last year and went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.
But yes, it's Bakich's fault.
a pathetic inning
It's a certainty. Harbaugh is obviously a superior coach when compared to Urban Liar!

He's a troll. Check his only other post.
if I'm a troll or not speaks volumes about your fanbase.
Every other comment I read on this website is some variation of what I just posted above. You people are ridiculous.
"You people" - where's my safe zone?
That speaks volumes about YOUR garbage fanbase. You must be on break at your Wendy's job.

That Michigan arrogance has spewed similar slights far too often-its not very original. Do you guys just rotate which fast food chain to mention?
It humors me that you post more than anyone else on this site, yet everyone mocks you.
You would know though since you have nothing else to do but troll a message board because your life sucks.

had Michigan as their last 4 in before the tourney. This Loss and the way they self destructed the last 3 weeks have probably Knocked them out of the tourney..They would probably have to win 2 or 3 games now to get in UNLIKELY...Prob the most disappointing Michigan team this season

His point still stands, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, and not sure about Lacrosse, sure they beat us in that too.
Lacrosse wouldn't even make the top 10 in terms of things I care about beating them in.
It's a regional sport that doesn't include the midwest that we just started.
I assume he's referring to the four major professional sports..football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.
#4 is Softball and Hockey is clinging onto #3 while it still can. Softball has had more sellouts this year than both MBB and Hockey COMBINED.

Just because michigan cares about a sport doesn't mean the rest of the country does. The sports the country as a whole cares about goes football, basketball, baseball, hockey. Nobody cares beyond that and we got smoked this year.

Are you serious? SEC stadiums average like 6 or 7k seats and have student sections. Over the course of the college world series there are over 300,000 paid tickets with an average attendance over 20k per game.
For comparison last year the womens college world series set an all time record with total attendance of 78,078. The michigan vs florida game was the 4th highest total of a deciding game with a little over 7,500. The sports aren't remotely close in popularity. Just because the midwest doesn't care doesn't make it not a thing
