Old CFN Michigan FB preview.
Standard disclaimer for clicking on CFN, please take it with a grain of salt. It's ancient in terms of internet time but I didn't see it posted. No dead players starting but UM did pick up a hybrid QB.
Final Polls will be...:

17. Michigan 9-3
The Spring Call: Brady Hoke’s first season will be a major success. Rich Rodriguez left the shelves relatively stocked, and it’ll show with an improved defense and with Denard Robinson doing less (and staying healthier). An early loss to Notre Dame will be big, but the wins will pile up until late in the season when the win over Ohio State brings a Legends title.

2010 Offensive Player of the Year … QB Desmond Robinson
Again it CFN and it's the off-season. Hopefully we'll hear some Buckeye tear article or a new recruit pick up and this will fade to the second page or you could to keep pretending that your working.
I would like to know who Desmond Robinson is. He sounds like he was probably pretty good. I must have missed him last year.
You know. He is the guy who throws the ball to Ray Roundtree and hands off to Victor Smith.
He's Denard's RB alter-ego. He had too many stats for a QB so they subdivided him into two people on the stat sheet.
Interesting they think we'll lose to Notre Dame, who's in just as bad of shape as we are.
I can't remember a time when ND was picked to lose to UM. It seems to be good luck though, As long as Lou and Beno keep caring the torch of ND beating Michigan and we can continue to watch Lou's lamentation (2006 being the best) on ESPN.
I loved Lou's analysis of the ND-UM game last season, when he was talking about how well ND played. Mark May, in total disbelief, pointed out that they gave up over 500 yards of offense to a single player. To which Lou responded, seemingly in total earnestness, "yeah, but besides that, they did well."
I could see Michigan losing to ND before Iowa and especially Illinois. Those are the ones that I find really surprising, especially since they see back-to-back losses followed by back-to-back wins against Nebraska and OSU.
I can never predict UM, I'm too emotionally attached and would worry about ALL opponents.
If we lose to Illinois and Iowa, we will certainly not be 9-3.
ND is in its second season in Kelly's system, and they finished last year much more strongly than we did, beating SC and winning their bowl. Right now they are probably somewhat ahead of us as a program. If we were playing them in SB I'd definitely consider them the favorite. Since it's in Ann Arbor, I think it's a tossup.
ND was a fake field goal away from ten wins with a crippled statue and a walkon at QB. They ended the year by absolutely demolishing Miami in a bowl game. Like you, I'd say they scare me for this year.
i don't get the rationale for losing to iowa and illinois, but beating nebraska and osu other than home field advantage. iowa and illinois are middle of the pack in conference this year and UN and osu are top, so home field advantage is worth three or four places in the standings?
and really, its not too early for predictions. spring practice was the last major informative thing to happen, so we know as much now as we will the day before fall practice starts (with the exceptions of players leaving, arrests and/or injuries).
I don't get losing to Illinois at all. We beat them last year with a terrible defense. Even with a below average, but not poor defense, we should beat them again. I guess this is what you meant by "take CFN with a grain of salt". I like the overall optimism, however.
Illinois did have a true freshman quarterback, and has the benefit of facing a team that will be transitioning to a brand new offense.
We aren't transitioning with completely incapable players. Denard can throw, we have capable receivers, and some tight ends to target as well (which we didn't even use enough to worth mentioning in last years game).
Ummm...I don't see how we beat Nebraska and OSU but blow games to Illinois and Iowa.
Then again, if this season ends up with us at 9-3 with wins over MSU, Nebraska, and OSU, I don't really mind losing to Illinois and Iowa this season.
Hell effen yes to their prediction...
I would go for that prediction in a heartbeat. Why do they stop short with a Legands title? Call the Big Ten Championship as well
All of Illinois' star players from 2010 are in the NFL now. Shoenhause (Sp?) is a young, inconsistent, good player. But I imagine Mattison's D will be 80x more adapt at slowing him down than GERG
We won't lose to the Zookers
And talked about how big of a pick up Matt James was after his tragic death? I might be mistaken.
Hence my jab at CFN dead players and talk of the mighty Desmond Robinson in the first paragraph. Somthing to read.
I wasn't knocking you for posting it, I was just genuinely asking if this was the site because I couldn't remember.
They do put out some dumb shit. Brian post on it (ND and UM)was what you remember from last pre-season I'm sure.
is going to be an interesting game, they're coming off a turnaround season but we have gone 2 for 3 under the worst days of the program. I still think we can manage to beat them in a tight one, Idk about "Ohio" and Nebreska though. I'm saying we go 8 -4
