NV the new NJ?
Looks like we have a lot of offers out in Nevada this year.
Lots of D-1 talent in this years Bishop Gorman HS class
QB Dorian Thompson Robinson
OLB Palaie Gaoteote
TE Brevin Jordan
RB Kirby Bennett
All have Michigan offers - (though only DTR is trending Blue).
Could this be a new pipeline?

Useless information one acquires growing up in Nevada. #Themoreyouknow

Now thats ^ funny. Cuz you can't do that brothel thing in Vegas.

Right, you know this only because you grew up there...

But yes, seems like they have been a consistently top school.
Attack them with enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

Ohio State owned Bishop Gorman this past recruiting cycle and have the upper hand (based on ballz and such) on most of the rop Nevada kids again this time around. We should be happy to just get the QB.
February 5th, 2017 at 11:21 PM ^
Who'd they get besides the midget QB?
February 5th, 2017 at 11:25 PM ^
He's a pretty damn good DT.
February 5th, 2017 at 11:27 PM ^
He's no Aubrey Solomon
February 5th, 2017 at 11:53 PM ^
NOPE. It's actually funny I considered putting "but he's no Aubrey Soloman". From what I've seen, Garrett is a pretty good pass rusher, But a smaller guy. I'd say he's pretty similar to Mo Hurst.

They had Tyjon Lindsay (top Nevada player last cycle) committed until about a month ago, too. Weirdly decommited and switched to Nebraska.
February 6th, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
2 of the top 8 doesn't qualify as "owning." They got the #2 and #4 rated recruits in the state but missed out on the BG players rated #1, 3, 6, 9 and 10.
Edit to note that OSU actively pursued the top recruit, WR Tyjon Lindsey, who was committed to OSU before flipping to Nebraska. They also went after #3 hard, S Bubba Bolden, who committed to USC. OSU didn't offer the 5th 4* from BG. He's the #21 CB and they already had 2 5* and 3 other 4* CBs (although he is rated higher than the other 4*.)

sounds like a good place to have a camp this year

Its crazy how they do it
February 5th, 2017 at 11:40 PM ^
Not really. It literally is a football factory, as in kids from all over the country, and now the world, go there specifically because they think they have a future in football. The school was literally created for athletes, it's not just some school that has a good program.

It literally is a football factory,
They manufacture footballs?

Ruiz and Anthony were both New Jersey kids prior to IMG. We were considered leaders for them before they went down.

IMG takes guys from all over. The guys at IMG are primarily juniors and seniors that have already gotten heavily recruited, but it's not like you can just make it a pipeline. In two years the IMG roster is going to look completely different. It's not like you can make ties in the community.
February 6th, 2017 at 7:39 AM ^
but it's a very tough school for anyone to turn into a pipeline.
February 6th, 2017 at 9:32 AM ^
Jordan Anthony was from Maryland. Ruiz was from NJ.

Wouldn't we need to get a kid out of Nevada first before we call it a pipeline? Who was the last player we took out of Nevada? I'm coming up blank, and i've been following recruiting for a long time.

Was he from Nevada? Undersized OG or center I believe. The kind of recruit that left us wondering if he actually had an offer or if he was a PWO.
February 6th, 2017 at 7:49 AM ^
No one seemed to know if he was on scholarship. That was a time when teams didn't offer scholarships to long snappers. I think it came out that Carr offered him a one year scholarship (something the Big Ten forbids today), but it was unclear whether he kept it. He may have been an early blueshirt. Didn't sign an LOI, just showed up in the fall.

A LS in 2011 and 2012. The only other NV recruit that Bentley shows is TB Manus Edwards in 1997-98.

Yeah man, it's all ours. Oh wait...
While most people watching last night's game between Las Vegas, Nevada, Bishop Gorman and Cedar Hill, Texas, were enamored by the play of Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell — and rightfully so — the defense was as equally impressive. Anchored by another 2017 pledge in Haskell Garrett, the Gaels held the Longhorns offense to only eight first downs.
Add wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey — who committed to Ohio State last week but was sidelined on Saturday evening with an injury to his shoulder — to the mix, and the Buckeyes seem to be building a pipeline to the Mojave Desert.
If the trend were to continue into the following recruiting cycle, another name to pay attention to is Palaie Gaoteote, whom Ohio State offered back in March. The linebacker was arguably the most dominant player on the field last night. One of 17 offers for the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, Ohio State has been tabbed as the leader the top overall player in the state of Nevada in the Class of 2018 by Crystal Ball prognostications.
With so many new faces, Bishop Gorman High football coach Tony Sanchez last year started documenting the coach visits on his computer calendar. Last May, coaches representing 54 different schools made visits.

I remember in the Mack Brown era, Texas used to lock up all talent in Texas before Senior year even started.
February 6th, 2017 at 8:37 AM ^
That's what happens when Mack Brown starts resting on his laurels and allows that program to descend into mediocrity, and then when Charlie Strong takes what Brown left over and runs it further into the ground. UT is just not an "it" program anymore. An argument can be made that it is onlythe 3rd or 4th best program in its own state right now.
Now, if Herman can start turning the program around, start beating Oklahoma, and make playoff pushes like he's capable of doing, that pipeline to OSU gets shut down quick.
February 6th, 2017 at 8:59 AM ^
Actually UT signed the #10 and #7 recruiting classes (per 247) in 2015 and '16, respectively. They haven't been winning on the field but still are formidable in recruiting, as long as it's not a coaching transition year.
February 6th, 2017 at 9:57 AM ^
Programs aren't defined by a few up or down years. Even Texas' worst recruiting class in memory was still better than TCU's. After TCU and A&M, who's next, Houston or Baylor? Recruiting is going to pick up for Tom Herman before he's even won a game.
February 6th, 2017 at 12:17 AM ^
needs moar Tom Brady.
February 6th, 2017 at 6:14 AM ^
and that would really sew up the parallel to NJ at that point.
February 6th, 2017 at 9:34 AM ^
Where have you seen that Kirby Bennett has an offer? I haven't heard about it and it's not listed on any of the four major sites.
