Nobody Does Less With More Than OSU

Submitted by Bo Harbaugh on December 29th, 2019 at 12:29 AM

Top 3 recruiting classes every year

Football factory, don't play skool

Online classes

Paying players the SEC way

Despite it all, OSU, with all their win at all costs advantages continues to choke away national titles.

A decade of top talent from Urban Meyer to now Ryan Day - they should have multiple championships like Bama and Clemson in the playoff era. Instead, they continue to do less with more than all the other football factory universities.

Fuck you OSU...another year of wasted paychecks for your players.

Oh, and "The best player in America", Chase Young, was again a non-factor, overrated, average Joe on the biggest stage.

We do less with a lot. Florida State, USC, Texas... they do even less than we do, with better classes. OSU lost a heartbreaker in which they got a couple of bad 50-50 breaks, lost their best player that Clemson couldn't stop to an injury for several possessions, and outgained their opponent by over 100 yards.

Sadly, they do a lot with their more. They've won a national title this decade. They've lost to us once. It's sickening. I wish they did less with more, but they don't. Bad post.

You keep posting”2,953 days” at this rate and you’ll give yourself that Urban Meyer cyst. Chill out Girl Scout. It’s a football game, not worth crying over.

Just find it funny that this literally is the best football moment for Michigan football this decade... think about that for a moment how happy everyone is about osu losing a game vs Michigan actually winning a worthwhile game.

I find it hilarious that after your team chokes away a playoff game, you have to hop onto your rivals website to make yourself feel better because the rest of your life is as awful as OSUs history against Clemson.

If you had good things going in your life, you wouldn't be here.

Name a time after a game you were more happy about than this? i don’t see Iowa or MSU or penn st this happy about an osu loss... for some reason this is what Michigan fans have to be excited about. Just find it amusing. Is it because can’t beat osu? Similar to MSU being happy with a Michigan loss? I know Michigan calls them the little brother. Maybe something similar should be done in this case with being more happy about an osu loss than a Michigan win. Starting to act like the bottom half of the big ten.

Every game we won this season, but particularly big wins like ND and MSU, and basketball wins like the games in the Bahamas. We were pretty jubilant for most of last season, too.

By all means keep humiliating yourself. A couple of people drunkenly spamposting threads isn't a great look, but it's not a significant chunk of the fanbase. I was more excited about a D-2 basketball game I watched on a livestream from South Dakota than I was for the result of this game.

Dude I barely even care that OSU lost. I was jumping up and down excited watching sparty blow the game against Illinois. I want to win the OSU game more than any other, but I don’t care what they do otherwise.

I root for the B1G...and was really rooting for an OSU romp over Clemson...and to carry the conference flag to an NC. But jackasses like you do give me pause here. A disclaimer at this time: Due to the most egregious, ongoing behavior at MSU I refuse to include them in my B1G loyalty.

It actually is not. The 31-0 Clemson beat down was the best. I just find it funny that your team has been pretty dominant over the last decade and lost a heartbreaker to an elite Clemson team and the best thing you believe you can do with your time is come over to a Michigan blog.

Ohio St has had its best run ever ...dominate ,great recruiting classes....

BUT

They have 1 more NC than Michigan in the past 52 years...so i agree they choke more than any team (when t matters)  and just about every game they have more "talent"

Not everyone, and the ones that were are obviously wrong.

Slotting in at just slightly behind the highest hyperbolic praise is not "nobody does less with more."

You're trying to take a shot at OSU, but instead you're just demonstrating willful ignorance of the sport. Be happy they lost; no need to embarrass yourself.

They run a football factory to win national titles.

They keep choking them away.

They have a full squad of NFL players, just like Bama.

They continually come up short.

Look at the past 6 NFL drafts and all that OSU talent that left without a national title.

Less with more.  No willful ignorance, no embarrassment.

You're fortunate here in that globalmodernwarfare is making posts that plumb the depths of pathetic, so your questionable reasoning isn't really the lowlight of the thread. Your logic is... nonexistent. You aren't even trying to validate your argument.

The plain truth is that OSU is not the only team that consistently nets top 5 classes and doesn't win a national title every year. Given that OSU won a title 5 years ago and has made multiple playoffs, this is hardly a scandal. Nonetheless, your decision to pretend that Florida State (top 5 classes every season, fired its coach midseason), Texas (top 5 classes every season, plays in a weak conference, can't even compete for the championship there), and USC (top 5 classes every season, a lot of people thought their coach should be fired, plays in a weak conference, can't even compete for the championship there, just got destroyed by Iowa) don't exist simply destroys any credibility your arguments could have without me saying a thing. I'm not even mentioning teams like Georgia or Miami (yikes!) here.

This post was unwise. We all make bad posts from time to time; you'll bounce back.

Unfortunate to see that you are stuck in the early 2000's... FSU, Texas, and USC do not have top 5 classes EVERY year. They pull in classes on par with Michigan, which average out in the top 7 over any given 4 year period. OSU and Bama pull in top 3 classes every year, and the difference between their classes and 4-10 keeps widening.

OSU has more NFL draft picks than any college team since 2000.  OSU has the second most draft picks of any team since 2008 (behind only Bama).

Your response is condescending and lacks data, but we all have bad takes from time to time; you'll bounce back.

Putting out one of the 3 most talented teams almost every year for 2 decades and having only 2 championships to show for it is underachieving.

Clemson, Miami, LSU, Florida and USC all have 2 championships in the past 20 years, and none have been as consistently well stocked as OSU over the entire 2 decades. Bama, of course, has the 5 championships in just the past 13 seasons.

The sustained success of OSU over the past 2 decades is only rivaled by nobody, yet in terms of national titles they are on par with teams that had elite 3-5 year runs.

Would I take their success - yes, no questions asked. However, to deny how they continually come up short in the biggest games BCS title games and now CFB playoff games is blind.

He isn’t off base - USC, FSU and Texas still have extremely talented (by rankings) rosters. We should really add Georgia to the mix of “least with the most talent”.

https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/

The really tough question for every team with elite aspirations is “which coach can you hire to get you over the hump” because the options are very slim. Especially if the AD wants to get there without a major scandal, which is supposedly the case at USC.

Bo Harbaugh

December 29th, 2019 at 1:51 PM ^

All these schools including Michigan have very talented rosters.  However, OSU is the one program that has been uninterrupted over the past 20 years, and went from really good to great over the past decade (Urban Meyer, full on SEC football factory).

They had classes on par with Bama and superior to Clemson. They have underachieved in the playoff era relative to their talent.  Bama has 5 championships in 13 years with the same talent level.

OSU is elite, more consistently talented than every team except Bama over the past 15 years, but can't close. All that money, all that cheating, all that focus on the ultimate goal of a national title every year, and they continually come up short.

Less with more.

They were underdogs in their own mind. They had Clemson on the ropes and should have been up three or four scores in the first half on the way to a redeeming blowout.

But they, like many OSU fans, expected to lose. And magically, they made it happen. And what will really eat at you is that you know exactly what it's like to be a Michigan fan at this moment. A couple of plays go a different way and the narrative is completely changed. Welcome to the club.

Well said. Winning national championships is really hard and OSU has put themselves in position multiple times in the last twenty years and managed to win two. I think just about any program not named Clemson or Alabama would take that, and even then, neither of those programs have had the sustained success of OSU going all the way back to 2002.

They came up agonizingly short due to their own mistakes and being on the wrong end of 50-50 calls. It happens.

If OSU does less with a lot then Michigan must be the worst of every team on there. FSU Texas and USC have won a lot more in the 21st century than Michigan has. Idk how the hell you can argue they do less with more unless you’re specifically talking about the past 3 years.

Quite pathetic this fan base has to resort to rooting for Clemson every year to beat OSU but when Michigan chokes against the Buckeyes.. ThEyRe UnBeAtAbLe

Embarrassing.

Wrong Stephenking-  OSU should have made the playoffs 3 times under Meyer but didn't due to blowing games badly during the season-    They have been very good but haven't been able to take that next step into a consistent championship team.

Michigan since Harbaugh is here has done about what Michigan has recruited - he's lost a couple of games that could/should have been wins that would have helped is narrative  a lot-  2016 vs OSU and the M state blocked punt loss.

It looks  like Michigan shouldn't be losing to Sparty anytime soon and this is a nice change from feeling like we had no chance agains them under Hoke-  We had a generational talent at QB twice under  Hoke and wasted them.
