NFL Draft / Browns & Lions Super Bowl Open Thread, Part 2

Submitted by Brian Griese on April 24th, 2020 at 6:52 PM

Folks, day 2 of the draft starts in 10 minutes.  Or, if you a fan of the Browns or Lions fan (latter myself) you know these are the days we look forward to all year.

How about that Packers trade last night? What will we see tonight?

Lions won’t win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.

I have about .... 35-45 years left based on my lifestyle.

But they won’t win in any of our lifetimes cuz we’re all gonna die or go back to the stone age cuz of COVID

I don’t hate the pick but I don’t necessarily love it either. DL or OL is where the Lions needed to go.

This.  One of Bob Quinn's flaws in drafts has been his tendency to try to get cute and avoid big name players like Swift.  Martha Ford spoke to the media this offseason and basically said this is the year for Quinn and Patricia.  If they don't make the playoffs they likely won't be back next year.

Seems like Bob heard Martha loud and clear and is going for obvious studs instead of guys he thinks are diamonds in the rough (Jahlani Tavai, Will Harris, Jarrad Davis, Teez Tabor, Kenny Golladay, Tracy Walker).  He's playing it safe this year but in a big way.  I like it.

Like you said the Lions desperately need playmakers and they've taken two studs with their first two picks.  Now they definitely need to address the D-Line in round 3.  Hopefully with both picks.

I would like this pick a lot better had they gotten the first round pick right. Take into account last years first round jaw dropper and my god these guys don't have a clue.

So many Michigan highlights. They just unfortunately involve Michigan getting blocked, sacked, run past, or run over.

Can Uche just come off the board so we can finally see good highlights, please?

another RB. they use a high draft pick on a RB every otner year. i would have rather taken the best available at a more pressing position of need.

I like Swift the most out of the RB in this class. Will offer more out of the backfield than Taylor or Dobbins as well. Value is good as he was a 1st round talent to most draft boards.

Just thought we really could have used this pick to bolster the defensive line. The pass rush seems like it has actually gotten worse since last season with Kennard leaving and not signing any DE or edge rushers.

Him and 11 others and counting. At this point, you cant blame it on Harbaugh or the system, these teams have obviously seen some things that are lacking. I know we all got tore up about misuse of our "NFL" wide receivers but Nico was the only one that I saw consistent effort from. Black was never the same after his injuries and DPJ was inconsistent.

I don't know who's to blame, but I don't think Harbaugh and co. can completely escape it. With an athlete of DPJ's stature, aren't there more ways the staff could've gotten more out of him? With all due respect to Ronnie Bell who has been excellent 2yrs in, we're taking a ~1000 ranked guy and feeding him the ball, but we can't find ways to get it to the #1 WR in the country out of high school? Could DPJ just not cut it in the slot like Ronnie? Just feel like we could've done a better job getting the ball to a rare ELITE athlete that Michigan lands.
