Newsflash: Davey O'Brien finalists need only a pulse

Submitted by iawolve on
Due to my location, I am getting coverage on Stanzi making the semifinalist cut for the nation's top QB. Well, his team has a good record, but man, those stats are suspect. Guess it is a beauty pageant. CMP: 137 ATT: 240 YDS: 1715 CMP%: 57.1 YDS/A: 7.15 TD: 12 INT: 8 RAT: 126.9 I mean this is a lower QB rating than Pryor (131) and right at Tate's.

but the guy makes the throws when it counts. Not sure what the criteria is but if "clutch" play making is included he would be considered tops in my book. Stanzi has his faults and throws pics, but he throws them early and comes back with strikes in clutch situations. I think being considered is reasonable.

that Stanzi is the QB for an undefeated Hawkeye team. And that goes along way. He may not be flashy but the kid continues to get the job done. Mostly in clutch situations where they need him to make a play. If your a QB on any undefeated team people are going to take notice even if said stats dont jump out at you.

I'm a little surprised Mallet didn't make it. Then again I haven't seen his performance lately, just his hot start. Cousins might be as good on a per play basis, but its hard to put a qb on a so-so team up there. Other than that I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

This has been beaten to death, and well aware this would change the stats of all QBs across the board, but it would be great to remove the nummy cupcakes Florida played at the beginning of the year for Tebow's stats. With: 84 for 132, 1159 yards, 63.6%, 8 TD, 4 INT Without: 59 for 93, 734 yards, 63.4%, 3 TD, 4 INT Percentage wise is robo-Henne like similar, but adios 5 touchdowns and a chunk o' yards. Again, I know, you can do this for any QB, just thought this was interesting for the Teboner.
